For those who have done both DCL AND RC(NOT one of the mega ships in the caribbean-one of the smaller ships that does say Alaska, PC, etc), would you recommend RC for a Panama Canal trip with 2 kids, ages 8 and 9? In looking at pricing, RC is about 1/2 the price of DCL if we do an interior or oceanview. If we do a balcony, they appear comparable.
ALso-how are the cabins on RC? None of the pictures i've found have the room made up for 4 people. In our Wonder cabin, we had PLENTY of space for the 4 of us. I'm worried that we'll feel like a can of sardines in the smaller RC cabin, and, for a 15 night sail, that won't be enjoyable.

For a cruise that long, you're going to want a larger cabin, or 2 interior/oceanview cabins. They can be pretty small on Royal. Our balcony cabin on the Adventure was a good size, even with 1 bathroom, but the sleeping arrangements weren't ideal. Otherwise, our kids enjoyed our cruise on RCCL just as much as our cruises on DCL, and we're taking another one in 3 weeks!

THanks so much for the reply. I was afraid the cabin size would be an issue with that long of a cruise. I think DH has talked me out of PC since we have a ton of home improvement projects that need done once our dogs die(I know it sounds awful, but I'm not replacing flooring with a 14 and 15 year old dog in the house!LOL)

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the dogs, we lost out 15 year old lab last year, and then replaced the carpet in the family room!

If you're looking at 2014, RCCL just release a whole lot of 3 and 4 passengers sail free deals on some sailings. Might be worth looking into.

Unless you are looking at the KSF deal, I would also look at two connecting cabins. You will love the extra space.
