I got an unexpected 2 day stay at CR through SoG. Is there anything I should know about? Is early check in possible? Thanks

Thought I would bump up just in case. Thanks

Just returned from CR with SoG ressie. Rooms were large. Housekeeping not terrific. We complained a few times. We have never stayed at SoG, but I heard that some people had cancelled their ressies after finding out they would be at the CR instead of SoG.

CR is very convenient to many things. Pool gets crowded. Seems like there are many pool hoppers. We were only checked for ID once in 2 weeks.

All in all, had a great time. Hope you have fun too.

Thank you for your reply. I had always heard that the housekeeping at the deluxe resorts was great. Doing special things for the guests like lining up toys....Is the same staff servicing the whole resort? What problems did you have? And was check in a hassle? Thanks again.

I guess I am spoiled & just expect 100% from Disney all the time. The housekeeping wasn't bad - I think I just expected more. We had a great housekeeper at FW that we continue to request each time we stay there & actually went to visit her twice this last trip.

This housekeeper didn't fold the daybed away & one day didn't even put our bedspread back on - just left it in a ball on the daybed. By the end of our trip after a few complaints she was lining toys up, etc. & she left extra soaps alot after asking just once. I was wondering the same thing about the housekeeping staff. Don't know if they are Disney housekeepers or SoG housekeepers.

No problem with check in. We didn't arrive early so had no need for early check in, however, we were unable to get a late checkout. Regular checkout is at 11 a.m. Our flight wasn't until 7 p.m.

The CR is one of the oldest resorts, so you can see a few things here & there that could some "pampering" but for being 30 years old it is kept up pretty good.

Was a little disappointed that the "water fountains" by the pool were not operating. Kids loved the water slides though. Hot tubs were great for the adults at night.

I had thought of making a topic like this. I'm glad it's already here.:D

We're going in October and I'm wondering about how long it takes to get to the monorail from the north garden wing. This will probably be our only opportunity to stay at a deluxe other than SOG (which we love!) and we're really looking forward to it.

They are Disney housekeepers. All of the SoG housekeepers were laid off for the closure. The only SoG employees you will find working over in the North Wing will be some of our management staff (who you shouldn't see) and ticket people. :)

If you want a shorter walk from the wing to the monorail, I would suggest requesting a room close to the main building. We just returned and I was checking out the wing. (we stayed in the tower) If you have a water view, the walk can be long. The walk is a long walk just to get to the shades ticket office. If you are close to the main buliding, you won't have a long walk at all. and remember, it's about a 10 minute walk to the MK from the CR. We did this alot going to the MK because the monorail stops at the TTC first, the Poly, second, the GF third, and the MK fourth. It can be a headache riding the monorial to the MK sometimes. Now leaving the MK is a different story. The CR is the first stop, but if the crowds are bad, sometimes its faster to walk back then to wait for a monorail or two!

Thought I would bump one more time in case anyone is back!!

Suevee.....When are you going?...We are staying at CR courtesy of SOG and we'll be back May 6th

Disney Dude, were you able to get a Tower room through the Shades of Green? I got a Garden room, but would love to upgrade to a Tower room.

Bob - we will be there May 5 and May 6. So it looks like we will be crossing paths!
