I discovered the Swan and Dolphin are at capacity due to a big IBM convention. Are any DISers involved with this convention? If so, could you let us know the park events you are involved with, ie - Illuminations party..., we would then avoid those parks those days for you and us to enjoy with less people.

Wow, Our week at the Swan! I'm a programmer on one of the more popular IBM platforms, maybe I can scrounge some free food & brew!

Hi Bill.
If you get a chance to see their schedule before you go, let us know.
I was in Epcot one evening when a CM said there was a convention from a huge company there and it was wall to wall people. The wait to get a bite outside at the Cantina De San Angel was more than 45min!

We start the parks on the 10th. So I'm gonna hope the attendee's don't linger after the convention ends.

Supposedly, Disney sets their operating hours based on the anticipated crowd levels. Does anyone know whether they factor in large conventions at Swan/Dolphin? We too are there that week. We are splitting our stay between Y&B and Swan because they was no availablity 3/6-3/10 at Swan/Dolphin. Just made our PS's a few days ago and didn't have any difficulty getting the days and times we wanted for CP, Jiko and lunch at the Castle, so I'm hoping that's an indicator of smaller crowds. Last year I had trouble booking CP almost 60 days out!

In Nov. of 2002 we did a week at Dolphin during a major convention, or more than one. The place was booked up weeks in advance. We noticed no effect on park crowds and Disney did not alter their park hours. Unless the conventioneers are playing hookey, they'll be occupied during the day. Several times that week the Adventurer's Club @ PI was late opening due to private parties going on. Folks with name tags on came out of the club, following a leader who held a flashlight over his head and they exited the park in a kind of conga line. We were waiting in line for the second Comedy Warehouse show and my wife and I got a good laugh out of it all. I'm not worried about crowds that week.
