Doc was there during Charlie and was posting as the storm moved through to keep everyone up to date on what was happening at our Home away from Home.

Hi Norma

I'm here at OKW (see my displeased with Vero Beach post) and at 5.52 pm I can report that we've had a couple of heavy showers and nothing else - yet.

I'm in building 54 and it was so pleasant I thought I would spend some time on the balcony while I still had the chance, but came back in because of a smoker on a nearby balcony - it's obviously my day; dog faeces, smoker on balcony and hurricane I jest obviously (just in case anyone is about to flame me) and of course the situation could and will change at any moment. For now though, all is well.

We are here at Saratoga Springs Resort. Bands of rain and winds inbetween calm periods are what we are getting this afternoon.

I'm pretty happy with SSR so far. They delivered Flashlights to our room yesterday and kept the store open for people to get extra food for their room.
The Community hall had board games to borrow to take to your room.

Looks like a new band is coming through now.

(We swam in the main pool yesterday afternoon. My son (11) rates the slide as his second favorite. Boardwalk is number 1. )

Ok.. I have a quick report from the quiet pool at SSR. My father took a quick walk around the resort during the quiet period and there are some small trees knocked down around the pool. Pulled the stakes right out of the ground.

I noticed that most of the trees here are pretty newly planted and staked in. I expect most of them to be over by the time this is finished.

Thanks for the posts. I'd appreciate if you could keep them coming, just to keep us updated. We will be at BWV on the 16th and are hoping there's not too much damage from Frances.

Ae've also been watching the weather channel quite steadily to try and keep an eye on what is happening down there, but there's nothing like on the spot reports from other DISers.

You're right they are newly planted. We were there 2 days after Charley and they were replanting those trees around the pool that had been knocked over by winds.

I was supposed to leave at 7 AM tomorrow, the we moved our flights tillMonday at 7 AM. Which now has been cancelled. We will now leave a 7 PM on Monday. Sooner or later we'll get to OKW.

WFTV from Orlando just said that the northern edge of the eye is directly over WDW @ 12 EDT.
