Anyone allergic to sunscreens?

Ok sunscreen report.... the cool mist by Neutrogena resulted in a wild rash on my ds that is allergic to most sunscreens- yet was ok with the regular neutrogena stuff last year(he's 12) DD was fine with it. So back to Mustella for ds(12) I just so love those quick sprays- you can reapply so easily- but back to thick creamy Mustella for us.

Hi - my cousin has since out grown his allergy, but at the time, he couldnt even sit in a beach chair that someone with any other brand of suntan lotion sat in without breaking out in a mad rash that was so itchy he ended up hating the beach! we finally figured out that - believe it or not - No Ad brand was the only one that he could wear!! it worked great for the whole family, and you didnt mind sharing it with others because it doesnt cost too much! we actually still use no ad most of the time because it worked fine for us!

i really hope you can find something that works - this can be a miserable thing!!

my dd was big time alergic. I always just put her in long shirts and hats :lmao:

I received Blue Lizard samples at my kids Drs. office and tried it last weekend and it worked great.

My DD2 is allergic to corn (among other things) and most sunscreens have corn in them. We are is the process of trying Bullfrog and so far it's OK. (we,ve only done the inner arm so far). Just keep trying. I've tried just about every brand in exsistance, but now I'm retrying because formulas seemed to be tweek from year to year. Good Luck!!

Thanks for so many options to try. We go see a dermatologist on Tues b/c this current rash (since last Thurs) won't go away. I'll let you know if I get anymore recs & which one finally does work. We have to figure this out fast. We leave for WDW in 8 days & the cruise a few days later.

do you ask the dermatologist?

I use faces - it is expensive but so far it is great. I do have to put it on every hour or two in Florida. It doesn't last (on me) very long.

I discovered I was allergic to sunscreen on my honeymoon. The dr at the hotel in Hawaii recommended sunscreen by Person and Covey. I found it at the pharmacy in Hawaii, but can't find it in NJ. My local CVS special orders it for me. They have a web site: www.personandcovey.com

I think it is clear that each person's allergies are unique. My daughter had an extreme allergic reaction to Hawaiian Tropics Baby Faces. Her whole face swelled up and the skin cracked. It was scary!

Our Dr. thought it was to the Titanium Dioxide in it but who knows. She outgrew the sunscreen allergy thank goodness. She was also allergic to metal snaps...Just try to find a baby sleeper without snaps!

My ds4 has severe allergies and eczema. Our Derm recommended VANICREAM (sp?) Lotions, creams and sunblock. It is developed by Dermatologists at the Mayo Clinic.

You can get it at the Target pharmacy counter. If they do not have it instock, they will order it for you and it will come in a day. I am sure other pharmacies carry it too, but in most cases you will need to ask for it, since they keep it behind the counter.

I need to say that I'm an Arbonne consultant and my children do not have sever allergies (although DS10 had mild eczema prior to Arbonne).

Here's some information on Arbonne's sunscreen that is in the abc baby line (this line is for babies and anyone who has sever allergies). The activie ingrediants are Octinoxate, Osybenzone, and Zinc Oxide.

There is not any Homosalate or Titanium Dioxide. I also don't see any corn products, although the regular line of sunscreens has modified corn syrup. If anyone wants a complete list of ingrediants, send me a PM and I'll send it to you.

You can check out my webpage if you want www.mnuzzo.myarbonne.com

Just passing on this information in case it can help someone. Good luck in your search.

I 2nd the Arbonne products. I use the sunscreen on my 11 month old when we go to the pool and DD6 who has eczema. We really like it.

I was having a months long allergic reaction and series of hives before our recent trip and my dermatologist recommended Neutrogena sensitive skin, but I had a bad reaction to it. I found Earths Best Organic at a health store and it seemed to be the only one I could tolerate. Well I did break out in more hives during the trip, but they were tolerable.
