I'm sitting here running the figures for next Aug. I know it usually comes out cheaper to book things piece by piece versus using a WDW pckg. But....has anyone actually used the add-on to the dream maker pkg?? The Silver one is the one I'm thinking of..it's $67 a night pp extra and $54 for a child (a night). Would probably stay at a value in this case. It looks like they can be added to the packages that have some pretty good rates right now. Any thoughts??? Thanks.

We are doing the gold pkg. in march. We are also staying at a value resort. If you plan on eating at some of the nicer restaraunts and taking advantge of the cirque de soleil I think it is definitely worth it. I believe adult tickets for cirque are around $80. I believe you said it ends up being an extra $67 a night. I think it is easy to spend more than 33.50 a meal for adults if you are doing the nicer restaraunts. To make it worth your while I would definitely do cirque and and the luau.

Can you add on the packages to discounted room rates? I'm trying to learn about them because friends always ask.

I think that if you compare full price room only to full price room only with the add on, the add ons are a good deal. When people say it's cheaper to book separately, it's because they can get heavily discounted rooms by using a code. Like $50 value, $90 moderate, $150-200 deluxe.

I'm honestly not sure if you can add them on to a discounted room. With DC we got a discount on both room(15%) and pkg, $100. I'm not sure if you book a room with a code if you can add on the pkg....sorry:( :(

I just check mousesavers and it looks like there are discounted packages available. No prices listed, so you'd have to compare to room only plus tickets. With the dream maker (room + tickets) package on the disney website, if you do 3 nights at a value with 2 adults and subtract out $180 for the room, the tickets are $200 per person. That seems like a decent rate, especially if you use all 4 days of a 3 night package.

The other special winter packages aren't available to price out on the website but you can call & get silver or gold.

I am going to keep an eye on the package specials, because I really think they are convenient.
