Anyone actually USE Verizon rewards?

I used it for the first time to purchase Gift card to use at Laundrys Rainforest or Trex $50.00 card was $5.00 off
There were several other gift card discounts but I know these I would use

I think you are talking about two different rewards programs. There is one Verizon rewards that gives you points for signing up for ebills or renting on-demand movies, and that one I've used for Panera and other gift cards, which is fine. Then there is the other one, that I noticed I had like 500,000 points in, that's a crock of crap and the points are good for small discounts on things I'd never buy-- and I believe that by being enrolled in that one you're letting them add you to a mailing list.

Leave it to Verizon... what a horrible, non-customer friendly company.

This topic was discussed back in January with quite a lot of activity on the board.

Basically, as said people here are talking about two different programs.

The "worthless" one is just a come-on to allow your name and details to be shamelessly sold for marketing purposes to other companies and they hit you with how valuable this program is (NOT), if you try to OPT OUT of them selling your name/etal.

Agree with these posts! For Verizon Fios (internet and cable) there is a rewards program that is pretty decent. You can sign up and use your points to purchase gift cards in full - 2,500 points = $25 gift card. The only issue is that the points expire quickly. I've only had Fios for a year and a couple thousand of my points were already getting ready to expire. So I traded them in for a $25 pre-paid Visa GC.

Now....the Smart Rewards through Verizon wireless...ugh!!!!! It is horrible! I signed up and had several hundred thousand points and thought I hit the jackpot. Nope! It's basically a way to use points to get 10% off GCs. So there are a ton of gift cards but you have to spend 1,000 points to get a $100 GC for $90. So, it basically serves as a 10% off coupon. There are a lot of sweepstakes though. I would think putting all your points towards a sweepstakes prize you want would be the best option. But even then your odds are ridiculous. I recently put almost 200,000 points towards a sweepstakes to win $900 in prepaid Visa GCs. The sweepstakes had 5 winners. I didn't win, but if I had then those points would have finally been worth something. I can't even tell you how annoyed I am by the stupidity of the "Smart" Rewards program.

Verizon used to be one of the companies I actually felt loyalty towards. Their customer service used to be amazing. Now, they are in the same sinking boat as AT&T and Comcast IMO. Their service has become horrible!

I like that I can get the gift cards I can use in Disney for 10% off It is better than nothing and whenever I am in Disney I visit Rainforest & T-Rex That is the only thing I like about the version points

Much better are the free ones I get from MyPoints

I was looking at the travel stuff today and the hotel points off actually seemed pretty good. Like 30-40$ off hotel nights in the Orlando area. Good hotels too
