It was about the murder of (most of) the Eastburn family. It really was so horrific. I still can't get it out of my mind. And I felt so sorry for the woman who survived it (was a toddler in her crib) and her father. Mr. Eastburn seems like such a good man, and my heart just broke for him, with what he went through. What terrible, terrible murders- how can anybody butcher a woman and her children.......

I saw this show lasst night (well, the first part; I had to go do something else), and I was horrified. Those poor detectives; you could tell that when they went back to the scene of the crime years later, they were still very shaken up. I admire people like them, who have such difficult jobs; I could NOT handle seeing people, especially babies, in such a horrific condition.

As for the murderer...did they catch him? What happened to him? I won't tell you what I think of people like that...:sad2:

Evidently it was the man who had gotten the dog from them (remember how they mentioned that they were trying to find a new home for their dog). His name was Timothy.....Hennesy (SP?), I believe was the last name. He was on death row for two years, but was released after a second trial.

The case was closed. Somebody reopened it as a closed case. With the advances of DNA testing, they retested a swab from the autopsy and the semen was from Timothy Hennesy. He had been free for like 20 years. He was retired military, so they had a loophole to get around double jeopardy. The military was able to call him active again and he had a military trial. He is now on death row again. During this military trial, his attorney tried to say that maybe the woman had consensual sex with him and that is why his semen was on the swab. The jury saw it as a last-ditch attempt and found him guilty.

That was on the local news here in NC -- I didn't realize it was going to be on 20/20, too. How hard for the daughter and father. Glad justice finally caught up to him.
