I was a teenager in the mid80s in a small whitebread Midwestern town. I will NEVER forget when, for a special treat, our band teacher brought in the Thriller video and let us watch it during band. It blew my mind. I don't think kids nowadays, with internet and hundreds of cable stations can begin to imagine what an experience that was.

Anyone else?

When I was a kid, I was coming home from the desert where my mother lived, and I was kind of sad to leave, I didn't see her as much as I would liked to. I remember laying in the back of my dad's car and the song "Ben" came on, I don't know, but it was kind of comforting.

I remember seeing him perform Billie Jean and that was just awesome!

I also remember watching I think it was on HBO the making of We Are The World and I was quite young ( I am 31 now ) but it was profound and his music touched me and it still does as I sit here quite numb and sad and watch his awesome videos.

I remember fussing with my sister over the wall space in our bedroom. I wanted MJ posters everywhere and she didn't.

I remember wanting to see him at RFK but my parents could not afford a ticket. When I can home from school my mom told me that my grandma had brought me a ticket :banana:. It was the best concert to this day that I have ever attended.

Same here. I'll never forget seeing that video for the first time. I played his thriller album everyday. I also had his posters in my room, the one in the white suit and the one in the yellow vest and bowtie. I also told my parents I wanted to marry him. LOL. RIP, Michael Jackson.

I still have my Thriller album, even though I haven't owned a turntable in twenty years.

I remember what a huge deal it was when Thriller premiered.

I also saw him live September 10, 2001. He was doing a special for CBS with his brothers and a bunch of other artists. I had a really good time at the show, but I found it hard to look at him. I felt so sad for the way his appearance had changed. But when they started singing Jackson 5 songs, it was so exciting. The crowd was on their feet. It was the best part of the show.

I was so excited to tell my co-workers all about the show the next day, but then the world changed. I will always remember Michael and his brothers as a part of when the world to me was in a better place.

I remember watching something something on super Bowl aftertime shows and getting to see his show

That was one amazing show!!!!!!!!!

The premiere of the Thiller video was great. We too had all gathered around our tv to see the "show". I remember my dad and uncle being blow away as well.

The 25th anniversary of Motown was another great MJ moment. Sadly, I never did learn how to moonwalk.

I remember in the early 80s when our daughters were young, we bought our first VCR and my DH liked to record music videos. One day he told me that he saw the most amazing video and was excited to show it to me, but he thought the kids were too young. We viewed it and just had to show it to them and they loved it. Of course it was "Thriller". Our daughters are now 33 and 35.

It's sad how his life turned out, but he had amazing talent that we did appreciate. We all have our problems, but his seemed larger than life because he was a celebrity.

remember playing on the baskitball court in 5th grade and listening to thriller.... I dunno why... lol

Nothing too personal for me, but my brother got to see him live in concert in NYC! He couldn't stop talking about it for a long time. I'm just happy that I have his Buccharest DVD concert. Two as a matter of fact! I love it. Yet, I am sad. But that DVD is a nice way to remember him.

The Victory Tour, Orange Bowl in Miami....

We ran into him twice.

Once at Disneyland and they closed Disneyana just for him. We were having the BEST DAY EVER and then I thought he looked so sad. Here he was at the happiest place on earth and he was surrounded by bobyguards and not riding rides like everyone else.

The other time, I felt the same pity for him. We were in Tower Records on Hollywood enjoying our day and there he was there thumbing through CDs, alone. My husband and I again commented on what a great day we were having and maybe we should invite him to lunch with us. I regret not asking him to this day. He probably could have used a dose of normal.

Back in the 80s I had a cuban boyfriend who looked like the "Thriller" MJ! :lmao: He HATED that, he could barely walk down the street without someone having a fit!! :lmao:

My funniest memory was the day my sweet uncle Brad was staying at my home and he came over to visit. My uncle has the mentality of a young sweet child and believes in sweet things, like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.:cloud9:

He came to my room and said with all honesty, "Robin, you not gonna believe this, but MICHAEL JACKSON is in the front waiting for you." By the time I got to the living room the poor guy had to sign an autograph for him and turned down doing the moonwalk....:rotfl2:

Remember the first time I saw him do the moonwalk.

Remember watching him perform as a child with the Jackson 5.

My sister had his pic on her wall first and we couldn't steal him.

I saw (Thriller) Victory? Tour in Knoxville in like '83 or '84 ? It was right after I first started working. My sister and I went to it with my boss.
