Anybody use 5-Hour Energy Drinks?

Okay, I am not a big coffee fan. Once in a while I will drink a hot cup of coffee, but it has to be light and sweet. I like cold coffee drinks, but again, light and sweet. I really need something in the afternoon to jump start my system and a diet soda will not do it.
Do the 5 hour energy drinks really work? If you use them, do you feel an instant burst of energy or does it just keep you from wanting to nod off?

I can't respond about the 5 hour energy drink, but I have a friend that doesn't drink coffee, but he takes caffeine pills. Each pill is equivalent to 2 cups of coffee. He cuts them in half and takes a half a pill when he begins to feel fatigued, which is 1 cup of coffee's worth of caffeine. He seems to feel it works to fend off fatigue.

I only drink energy drinks when I have worked over 60 hours a week. I get ready go 10 day home stand I will probably have several energys drinks to give me energy.

Along with chocolate candy bar, coke and energy drink. I will be wire to halt. Did I mention that ADD/AHDD too. LOL Don't need energy drink at all. But with running two concession stands. I need all the energy I need get.

I know this is not a popular sentiment, but I have to speak up here. Energy drinks are dangerous. We had a teen die recently in our community because of them. They all contain stimulants form the same family as Methamphetamine, even the ones that calim to be "all natural". They get away with it because the stimulants are derived from plant sources. The plant based stimulants in energy drinks have the same effects on the body as meth, but without the high. These stimulants increase blood pressure and heart rate, and can be daedly to those with even very mild undiagnosed heart conditions. Continued use can lead to cardiac issues down the road and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. IMO not worth it to be able to function on less sleep, or for that extra shot of energy.

I agree... they are dangerous! I've tried 5 hour energy and I can't sleep at night even if I only have half the bottle!

Zip Fizz is a natural energy drink (well its a powder that you add to water) so that might be a good alternative. (I've tried that as well, and can only have half... but I don't even have caffeine normally in my diet, so that might the issue) Some of my co-workers swear by Zip Fizz!

I also use them occasionally. DH keeps them around just encase they're needed. I'm a stay at home/home schooling mom that gets up at 5 to have some "me" time and by 1 or 2 I'm in trouble sometimes!! SO, I tried these, although I'm also very... FRUGAL, I only take about 1/2 a bottle at a time, maybe even less, and they work great. No jitters, no shakes, just make the yawning and sleepiness go away. I think I will be trying some B vitamins though as PP's have said... we'll see. I have a terrible time taking pills, I have to take gummy vitamins! :goodvibes

Oh, and no, I don't get any burst of energy, just feel like I woke up from a nice refreshing nap and I'm ready to continue my day.

I love gummy vitamins:thumbsup2

Zipp Fizz has a warning on their label for those who are sensitive to caffeine not to drink them. I had one and I'm not sensitive to caffeine at all and I felt a huge jolt.

Zipfizz works pretty well, if you can drink it . . . :lmao:

Picture this - my sons and I were at WDW last October and I bought a powdered Zipfizz variety pack in anticipation of our trip. OMG the taste is VILE! So midafternoon, you would see us at various parks trying to choke that stuff down, making the worst faces at the Happiest Place on Earth . . . we would get too tickled looking at each other to drink. As the week wore on, we developed various strategies to deal with the Zipfizz - my oldest preferred his strong with less to swallow, and luckily we all thought a different flavor was less awful so there was no fighting over one flavor. It did provide a lift, though. :upsidedow

Maybe the liquid tastes better?
