Just wondering if it's worthwhile or not? I'm probably going to use RideMax...not sure if I'll have the time to do the customized super-geek trip planning that Hydroguy and others have done with the RideMax getting wait-times for all rides at all times throughout the day (as much as I would love this)...Mobile Magic says it gives wait times on your cell phone while you're in the park...this sounds pretty good, but is it detailed to specific wait times or just "short, moderate, long"?

Any input would be appreciated...Thanks!

I tried the trial run last week and loved it. I am leaving the 2nd week of May and I am adding it. I waited to add it to my phone only because I am going back in Oct and I wanted it to last through my next trip. I really think its worth it. If you want I can give you a full review when I get back from my trip in May:wizard:

Please give us a review. I am very interested in this!!

Thanks!

I'm also interested to see how this app works out so I'll definitely be looking forward to your review too. :)

Loved it! I downloaded it while waiting in line. The wait times were in minutes. It also told if fastpasses were still available. It was very helpful. It did seem to be updated often if there was a ride closure too. That is just my opinion. I also cancelled it when I got home so I only paid the 9.99 for the one month.

I bought the app for my Verizon LG Chocolate 3 and have used it in the parks several times.

  • The wait time feature was VERY accurate. Of all the attractions, it has the hardest time being accurate with Mickey's Fun Wheel(?!?), and is occasionally off by 5-10 minutes with TSMM. But every other attraction I've tested it with has been accurate to the exact minute.
  • One of the nicest features was the ability to display the available fastpass window for each attraction. Combined with the wait times, knowing if/when fastpasses are available can really help.
  • The use of GPS was a pleasant surprise. When you're in the parks, and you choose Attractions, the app will usually default to the land that you're in. It's not 100% accurate, but it comes pretty darn close most of the time.
  • There are two trivia games available with the app. I didn't think they were really that good, but they can help pass the time if you're in a long queue. The "Disney Park Trivia Game" was kind of misleading. In the first level of the game, about half of the questions were related to Disney movies, and not the theme parks. In the later levels, the questions focus on the parks and can get challenging. :)
  • $9.95 for a 6-month subscription might be a little pricey for some. But after using it, I think I'm getting a pretty good value.

I just downloaded Mobile Magic last night. I'll be using it in 2 weeks and will report back. :)

I hear this is the only app out there that is tied to the disneyland times is this true? meaning when disneyland wait times changes so does this app

I saw someone say they only paid the 9.99 for one month I thought it was 9.99 for 6????

Plus how does it work you get it for 6 and then have to renew it for another 6 and another 9.99 if you want it again?

I unfortunately have a droid and it is not compatible with that phone which really sucks but would have LOVED to have tried it for my trip in June.

Anyone know if they are EVER going to get it for the smart phones?

Yes, it's good for 180 days. If you needed it again after that time, you'd have to renew.

My daughter just got back from DLR on Sunday and she found the wait times to be on par with Mousewait, no better no worse and definately not to the minute. She dicided that she will stick with Mousewait just due to the cost.

Thanks! :) Although unless they come out with it for the droid I guess it won't matter :(

Just wanted to mention that you can download it free for 24 hours.

WHAT?!? :scared1:   :scared: :sad2: :headache:  :furious:
I didn't know that - I hope either they make it compatible or there's a comparable app on Google market

This is all great info...Thank You Very Much, and I look forward to further reviews from those that are going to try it soon...now I'm wondering if I'll even need RideMax???

Thanks again!

I must confess I am intrigued by this. Alas I am an AT&T user. Almost makes me want to switch! :)

In any case, if I understand this app right it only tells you what is happening now. If that is all you want to know then it is better than RM. However, if you want to know what is likely to be happening later in the day then RM can tell you this while this mobile phone app can't.

if you have an iphone there are plenty of good apps out there to use that are cheaper

The Android market has RideHopper, an amusement park line-time app. There's a free Lite version. In addition to DL, you can use it for virtually any amusement park in the country. It relies on users to update the wait times, whereas Mobile Magic is linked directly into Disneyland's system. I've used it twice and it was fairly accurate, but both times were busy (spring break and Christmas), so the extra people in attendence probably kept the app's times more up to date.

Interesting.

So does "available FP window" tell you:

1. That FPs are available (on an attraction)?
2. What the return windows are on all FP rides at that point in time?

Good info to know on the fly. :thumbsup2

Side note - I see the GPS feature as a potential nightmare for some folks. IMO, using GPS INSTEAD of a park map (& not studying a map ahead of time to get a lay of the land) is a recipe for disaster.

Parade crowds, JungleLand gridlock, garbage in/garbage out info in the system......people will be standing in line for a Dole Whip thinking they're gonna be riding the Jungle Cruise. :lmao:

My (27 y/o) daughter calls me once a week lost because she can't read a map & her GPS has her in the middle of a cornfield. ;)

Bottom line....look at the map....try to get the lay of the land. Informed spontanaeity (sp?) is easier when technology offers information on places (& attractions) that you already know how to go to. :hippie:

hound <-----a true techno geek....even figured out how to shove his Humble Pie & Merle Haggard tapes into the 8 track player.

:)
