or any of the imitations (at lower cost)?

Am nearly desperate for a comfortable mattress d/t back issues.
Does anyone have a recommendation for one of the above or their imitators and any specific retailer?

TIA.

I have tried laying down on the tempurpedic mattresses and I cannot stand them. They don't seem to support me right at all... not comfy. We do have a select comfort mattress and I do much better on it. I don't wake up hurting like I normally did and I can adjust it to suit my back needs. Once I have the right pillow and firmness settings, I sleep like a baby and wake up feeling pretty good. We've had ours for a while now and I am glad we got it. Much better than the coil mattresses I used to sleep on.

We have had a Select Comfort matress for 3 years now, and I can't live without it! It is especially great when you do too much hard work and you can adjust the level for one night if you wish. It did take a bit of experimenting at first to find my right number, but now I love it. The change of seasons sometimes make it necessary to recheck to make sure the number is staying constant. Temp changes and heat and airconditioning can have an influence.

We've had ours several years and still like it.

I have a TempurPedic-like mattress that I bought at Sam's Club online and absolutely love it!!! It was about $1000 less than the actual TempurPedic, but I can't tell the difference! I have always had back pain, and this has helped a lot.

We've had a Select Comfort for about a year now. DH has back problems and he loves it. I HATE it! Worst mattress I've ever had. I didn't sleep good before and sleep even worse now. Wake up sore every morning. Maybe I'm just getting old...

We have had a TempurPedic for a year or two. I love it! It is a little firmer in the winter, especially until it warms up from your body heat. DH thinks it is too soft in the summer, but I love it all the time. They do take a little getting used to, though.

We have had a Select Comfort for about 6 years and would never go back. I love that I can change the firmness when ever I want and my DH has back problems that are much better now

DH and I have a Select Comfort. I too have a very bad back, but this mattress is fantastic for my back. We both love it.

DS and DIL have one too, and they said they would never get a regular mattress again.

So far, it seems like Select Comfort has more votes. Any other thoughts? Thanks.

I have a very bad back....used to have to sleep with multiple pillows under me and between my legs. We got a select Comfort and have never had anymore problems. We have had it for about 6 years, and I will never go back to a normal bed...

we have our select comfort for about 4 years now, we used to have a semi-waveless waterbed. I too like the fact that I can adjust the firmness on my side independent of DH's side. We like it a lot!

Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, but the problems with the boards have had me off line for a few days...We have a lifetime guarantee with our mattress from Sam's Club. We also recieved a pamphlet that had the amount of money that would be reimbursed if you were to return it. (ie...% of what you paid for it, and depending on when you returned it) Hope this helps!! Also, we had to order this online, they aren't available in the clubs....

We love our Select Comfort. It's really nice to have separate settings, as with my bad back, I like having my side much firmer than DH.

I actually had a smaller one when I lived on my own, and I really had a tough time when I moved in with DH and he had a regular mattress. I didn't sleep as well, and my back always hurt when I got up. I talked him in to getting a new one that fit the two of us better, and we're both really glad we got it.

Try the Select Comfort for 30 days, and if you don't like it, you can give it back and get a full refund. Or at least that's what they say anyway. Having owned two, I've never wanted to give it back.

Another 2 votes for Select Comfort. DH and I have one and we also got one for our youngest DD who is disabled. We've had them for about 6 years (I think) and are very happy with them. Before getting DD's, she was awake every few hours trying to get comfortable. Now, once she's asleep, she hardly moves all night and (since she's a teenager) I even have a hard time getting her out of her bed in the morning.
The hospital where I work changed to what I guess you would call an industrial/hospital version of the Select Comfort beds about 4 or 5 years ago. The patients love the beds.

I bet they do! A comfortable hospital bed would be a really nice change from the norm!

Now if only hotels would start using something like that too... :)
