Is it still playing? My next to youngest son and I were looking at the website & we thought it looked good.

Fantastic show (seen it in NYC and when it was playing at the Wynn in Vegas). How old is your son? I'd say if under 14 it may be questionable.:cool1:

Thanks for the heads-up but he is a totally snarky (wonder where he gets that from...:confused3 ) 17 almost 18 year old. The boy is so into theatre (he's directing his high-school drama club's play -- Romeo & Juliet set in the post-atomic future). We saw this show is playing in Tucson next weekend and thought it sounded good. (How can any play with a song titled Schadenfreude be bad?)

It's very cleverly staged and really funny. Not much depth but a wonderful time. Go for it!

It's coming to Pittsburgh in Novemeber, and I can't wait to see it. I've heard nothing but good things about it too. Is it "gay" themed? Or is it just one character. I'm confused. LOL.

Be just like you to raise snarky kids.
Ya know...I've always wondered about your "other" life :rolleyes1 I mean...who are you really???

The show is absolutely fabulous, although I'll disagree with Safari Queen about the depth. I think there's a lot to be learned from the show. We had a discussion about it afterward among a group of students and there was a lot that people learned about stereotypes and messages. It's also absolutely hilarious and addresses everything in a non-threatening way.

There is a character with a sexual preference storyline (don't want to spoil it) and he's represented with humor and love. The show takes shots at everyone, really. It's very funny and pretty outrageous. The puppets have the riskiest stuff, which somehow makes it less shocking. And okay, InLoveWithTheBeast, it has some depth. I saw it the night after Equus (w/Daniel Radcliffe) so everthing else looked pretty fluffy!

Is Equus touring the US?! I thought it was only in London. And from what I remember, from my other half telling me because the book was banned by the time I got to it in school, he blinds the horses when he touches them?! How disappointing, I guess that means full saddles from here on out. (If you catch my inuendos.)

Just catching this thread...a few days late I have to say...but I agree with my hunny....

GO SEE IT!!

She had a gift coming for Valentines' Day last year...I made a "menu" and she had to choose from each course. (Since this is a Disney thread - we won't discuss dessert <very evil grin> !! )

well, she asked to exchange her "app" and "salad" course with the "entre" for tickets to Ave Q. I went reluctently (can't spell either!)...I was holding my sides from pain of laughing when I left the threatre.

At first it seems a bit light...but once I re-listened to the music and went over the whole thing in my head I have to agree with a prior poster - the messages were well developed, sincere and well meant. they were presented in a way that was palatable to even the most resistant!

Won't wreck the plot - but be sure to really listen to the words of the songs...they add to the whole thing. The little snide comments were outragious!

ENJOY!!

Avenue Q will be at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (about an hour from Disney) April 1st through April 6th 2008.

Just in case you are going to be in the area.....
