Okay, I love VB so this isn't a thread to bash the place. I'm just curious. We've been there three times now and on the 1st and 3rd time we were bothered . . . or I should say I was bothered by a urine smell in the bathroom around the toilet! First time was in an ocean view Inn room and this time in a 1-bedroom.

Now, I called mousekeeping and both on that first visit and this visit and they were great! They sent someone up to scrub the floor. However, the odor persisted that time and this time. I said something the day before we checked out again, not so they'd come up and clean it again, but more as a general comment that they may want to look into it . . . and darling's that they are, they sent mousekeeping up again and they scrubbed the whole area but to no avail.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this experience. I'm wondering if it has to do with the grout between the floor tiles. Maybe bathroom odors get into it and they can't get them out. I have vinyl in my bathrooms and so we don't know what the tile is like.

However, this is something I'd love for them to find a way to fix 'cause everything else was perfect! I didn't even see a bug and that's what I'm always afraid of in Florida . . . particularly in a room with a kitchen and at the beach!

It's probably the Florida water that you are smelling....it's notoriously SMELLY!!!!!

Ever notice that the water from the fountains at WDW smell like sewer water? I'm always dubious about drinking from them! LOL

I definitely noticed this when I was there in March. It was not too bad when I checked in but it was late at night, and I just wanted to go to bed. The next day and from then on I smelled it. It was definitely a urine smell, not just the water from the ocean. I was in an Ocean View Inn room. I was by myself this trip and I just slept in the bed nearest the balcony, so the smell didn't bother me at night, but it was always there at the sink and in the bathroom. I thought maybe it was urine in the carpet, so I mentioned it upon checkout. I can't remember my room number, but I have been to VB several times and this is the first time I ever had that smell in my room.

. . . the water, but it was fun to joke about. No, it was clearly around the toilet . . . not even the sink in the case of our 1-bedroom. However, I did think it was the sink and toilet when we were in the Inn room. Like I said, though, they were very conscientious (sp?) about trying to correct the problem. One staff member suggested that when they mistakenly combine some cleaning chemicals it gives off that odor, but I'm still pretty convinced it's in the tile grout! Ugh.

It didn't ruin our trip and VB is lovely, but I do wish something could be done. Even though I knew the place was clean, it was still bothersome!

Well, it's not urine but I don't know what it is.

We have had that smell in every room we have stayed in at VB.

I believe that we get the same smell in our bathroom here at home (I keep my home spotless.)

It's not the water at the resort (even though the water down here does stink.)

It has to be something on the tile or on the toilet.

I hope they know that combining certain chemicals can be really dangerous.

I hope this helps.
