Anybody met Moana?

This would be a MAJOR excitement for my daughter (and to a lesser extent, my son), if they got to meet Moana. She sings the songs every morning. So, I have a couple of questions.

1. Has anyone ever met Moana? Can you give me any tips or experiences or anything else about meeting her? How long have the lines been?

2. She's been off the app for a couple of days. Any idea if she will be there in April for Spring Break time? I haven't told my daughter if she will or won't be there just in case she isn't there.

Thanks!

We met Moana back in December. She is near the Jungle Cruise in Adventureland. We got in line about 20 minutes before she was due to arrive, and then stood in line for another 15 minutes before it was our turn.

We saw her on Jan 29th (which turned out to be a very busy day for Lunar New Years weekend). We were at the Emporium when the rope drop music played and walked straight to Adventureland. She is in between Aladdin's Oasis and the store next to the Jungle cruise in the little white courtyard area. We were probably about 4 groups back in line when we arrived and waited maybe 10 mins. She does some cute poses (arms folded back to back and a wayfinder with arm stretched out looking at the stars kind of pose). I thought she was adorable and she seemed very patient with the little kids. Also note that they have a cute background set up with some of the drawings from the movie on them that make cute pictures even when she is not currently there greeting. We saw lots of people later that night taking photos in front of them.

My daughter is obsessed with moana too and insists on listening to the soundtrack in the car every morning. She saw her twice last week ("mama, there are two moanas, it was a different one today", lol). Same as pp said except we didn't see any pics posted in the meet and greet area. The CMs will discourage you from trying to line up earlier than the time they tell You to line up, but the second time DH and DD stood next to the line area early anyway and ended up being the first one to meet her. Not sure if you will want to employee this somewhat aggressive strategy but we saw a lady standing next to the ropes so they went ahead and stood next to her. Also, the night before, the Disneyland app said the starting time for the meet and greet was earlier than what it turned out to be when we got there.

If your kids like doing pressed pennies, there is a moana themed pressed penny machine in adventureland bazaar which is across from the moana meet and greet. Pennies press into moana, Maui, and pua images.

We saw here on January 13th, where pp described in between Aladdin's Oasis and Jungle Cruise's exit. We probably got there about an hour after the park opened and we noticed the line looked decent so we jumped in it. They gave the kids an activity book which was neat. We probably waited in line 15, maybe 20 minutes. It wasn't bad at all and definitely worth it. DLPCA_MOANACHAR_20170113_7922345221.jpg DLPCA_MOANACHAR_20170113_7922345220.jpg

We met Moana on February 7. The line wasn't too bad (it was around 11:30 or so, I think).

The line was weird, though. We got there before she was scheduled for the next met and they were moving people around. They had lines on both sides and nobody seemed to know where to line up. I got in the line that the arrow pointed to, but a cast member came and made us all leave because it was too early to line up. When I asked about the line on the other side, the cast member said to us, "Those people are not in a line and shouldn't be there. They're going to be told to move, so don't go join that even though it looks like a line." So we just lurked out front while others joined the line that he said was not a line and would not be let in. Lo and behold, they went and let the people in the line in. So that was frustrating, but we joined the line and waited around 15-20 minutes to meet Moana. The meet and greet was fine - nothing special, but my daughter was happy to meet her!

We lurked in the area waiting for the CM to open up the line for about 1/2 hour. Of course right before they open it, my dd needs to GO! And the bathrooms right there are under renos. We dashed across to the ones by the Plaza and made it back and were about 15 min until we met her. My dd was delighted, she loves Moana. There wasn't a photographer there that day, but I did see one the next day when we went by.

Fwiw, the meet & greet area is no longer there and she wasn't out at all over this last weekend. I don't know if she'll be moving any where else though.

Oh dear! I was afraid of this. She hasn't been on the app for a few days. I'm hoping that she pops up in a new home? Maybe they are moving her to someplace better? I'm also hopeful they will bring her back for the Spring Break days.

But, I won't tell my daughter just in case. Thanks!!

I asked a CM about her on Sunday 2/19 and she said Moana was taking a short break but would be back in a few days.

any idea of when she might be back? She still isn't showing up on the app.

We ran into her on 3/2 outside of Aladdins Oasais. She did not sign autographs or pose for individual pictures, but rather did a group meeting with all the little children gathering near by. She was not on the app the whole week we were there and it was by chance we saw her as we left Jungle Cruise.

Ugh! That would be very disappointing. My daughter REALLY wants to meet Moana. I'm glad I haven't told her about it yet. We aren't going until April and maybe they will have decided a new home for her by then. I'm holding out hope that they will schedule characters around the clock for Spring Break.

I heard she is now an atmosphere character like Merida - no official M&Gs but interactive storytimes and games. So you probably can SEE her if you ask a CM when to intercept her, but might not be able to get a posed picture or autograph.

I wish the app would list both types of characters and differentiate between official M&G or not - I feel like it would help a lot of confusion from guests who keep harassing the atmosphere characters for autographs (understandably, how are they supposed to know they aren't signing things, but has to be awkward for the characters and leaves people disappointed). It seems like Disney could explain on the app and make it easier for everyone...

We met her the week after Thanksgiving at Aladdin's Oasis. She was adorable; chatty and took a lot of pictures.

I don't know what that means to be an "atmosphere" character.
