Almond Paste is an ingredient in Marzipan, right? What would happen if I used Almond Paste in a recipe that called for Marzipan?

Almond paste IS marzipan. I am looking at a box of it right now. I use it to make Venetians -- delicious, to die for, striped italian cookies.

I am not sure if they are exactly the same.

Marzipan is made with ground almonds, sugar & egg whites. If the paste you have contains these ingredients, I think you're good to go.

I'm not exactly sure. I see both at the grocery store: almond paste and then marzipan.

I buy the almond paste quite often and make the absolutely best almond bread!! It makes mini loaves and I give them as gifts at christmas time. EVERYONE wants the recipe. It is such a hit!!

So, since both of these are side by side at my grocery store made by the same company I tend to say they aren't the same.

Trish, when you have time, could you share the almond bread recipe? Please? it sounds really great!

thanks
