Anybody here remember the Schwinn Sting Ray?

Shhheeesh...I feel SO stupid.....guess the bike has held up better than my memory...my brother had a sissy bar, and come to think of it his bike was stolen when we were kids. I guess my simple little ape handle wasn't cool enough for the thieves!;) I will have to nose around ebay, like I said, DD loves this bike and I don't know how long those tires are gonna hold out! She likes the sparkly banana seat as well...did I mention she is 13? Go figure. We did get a photo of her the first time we hauled it out of the attic, and paln to place it next to one of me on the same bike if I ever get around to it. I remember falling off and hitting my mouth on the handle bar...gave myself one heck of a fat lip...ahhh, memories!:p

I had a bike like a stingray, and it was a purple schwinn banana seater, but it was a "Fair Lady". Does that sound right? I got it in about 1970.
I don't know about resale on bikes but I have a 30 year old Schwinn continental 10 speed, doesn't look pretty but I couldn't even move it for $5 at garage sales. DH wants me to donate it to a charity that takes bikes to poor countries this spring.

I had a purple one with the sparkley purple banana seat.

That Continental on ebay (thanks to MICKEY88 link) is not original and was not top of the line. Wonder if somebody will fall for it.

Anybody know what was TOP OF THE LINE??

I have no idea, but I'm glad no one is bidding $99 for that one! Mine isn't in that great of shape (I got it in June of 1974!!) and the silver color of the paint is more of a gray now, but it depresses me that even the local "bike man" who fixes up and sells bikes wouldn't take it.

other than a collector...why would anyone want a 10 speed, when for 50-100 bucks you can by a 15,18, or even 21 speed bike,,,plus the newer ones have shocks and wider tires for better off road riding...

My was green with an sparkles in the seat....OOHHHHH how I loved that bike...

I had a blue one with a white sparkle seat. Great bike and it brings back such great memories. Oh to be that young again and the only care in the world was where were you going to bike to that day!

I got a turquoise banana seat bike for my 7th birthday. It was my 1st bike and cost $35 at the American Auto Store. I loved that bike, it was sooo cool.:sunny:

I'm trying to contact all my friends that had these bikes, and offering them 25 bucks for them..then I'll sell them on ebay...LOL

'74 or'75 10 speed-red. !!! My DH still has his in our basement. It has moved with us at least 6 times. Yes, the tires are the original and still in good shape!!
