Stratosphere Tower - (UPDATED 2:40 pm EST - 4/9/04) Just when you thought that the Stratosphere couldn’t build anything more, they come up with what looks like the most frightening ride concept yet. The ride has no name as of yet (I may just call it Project X2 for now...), but imagine a cross between a Wave Swinger and an Afterburner that swings out over the edge of the tower. You load on the tower facing inward in a circle. Using a curved support arm, the group of 10 riders (5 arms, each with 2 seats) swivels out and over the edge of the Tower where you start to spin. The centrifugal force of the spinning pushes you back and up close to 90 degrees... meaning that your now spinning while looking face first, 900 feet straight down at the Las Vegas Strip. In addition to our incredible images seen here you can watch a video of the incredible ride animation shown on the news by clicking here. The ride concept was approved by the city late last night at about Midnight. It was also mentioned that they have abandoned all plans for the vertical coaster down the ride of the tower at this time.

NO! I have been to Vegas several tims, but I am afraid of heights so I have never even been up to the top of the Stastophere.

(Plus, they are always in finanical trouble and the idea of riding a roller coaster that high owned by someone who might not be paying for upkeep.......)

wow! Interesting...! :teeth: I too, would feel nervous about upkeep and safety... :o

I'd have to be heavily sedated to try that!

Heck, if I got to the Stratosphere to ride High Roller and the Big Shot, I might as well right this! :)

I'll try it once, but it looks scary even for me!

I've done the high roller and big shot before so I guess I could try this!! And yes I am thrill ride crazy!!

:earseek: Uh, uh, no way NNNNNNNEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

That would totally freak me out.

I would definitely try it (as long as it passes the safety tests), but my pilot husband who is afraid of heights would pass!!

I've been on the High Roller... but that looks a bit much.

I also would be wondering about safety checks.

No way. A friend of mine rode the High Roller and the Big Shot on a trip a few years ago. She did it after dark and she said the Big Shot felt like she was being shot into outer space. That's not for me. I stayed inside. This next one looks completely insane.

I would have to see it first but it wouldn't surprise me if I went on it.

:earseek: OMG!!! no way, not unless I was on Fear Factor. OK, not even then, I wouldn't be on Fear Factor, I'm a chicken and I have a queasy stomache :(

I would be first in line   !!!! I'll try anything once...and I think I'd go on this one twice!!

-Caroline :sunny:

I would definately take a pass on that one!

no and whats more... I dont think Ill be walking UNDER it any time soon! ( if you get my drift) facing staright down???

:earseek: :earseek:
