Just wondering if anyone here has been to DLP.

Any insights, tips, etc.?

TIA

janet

PS I've already started asking questions on the DLP boards! :thumbsup2

The DLP boards tend to be a little quiet!

I was there this past October, coinciding with their Halloween celebrations. They really go all out at this time of year, PumpkinMen and Pink Witches invading throughout the park but especially in Frontierland.

The park is beautiful, with careful attention to detail and theming. Are you planning on staying at one of the 'official' hotels? They tend to run on the expensive side and some of the 'neighbor' hotels can be just as close. The bus system is quite efficient, but can get super crowded at park closing.

The studios were fun, but can be done in a day. Hopefully with the addition of Tower Of Terror and a Toon based land, this park can become a two day attraction.

Disneyland's rides were often superior to their Anaheim & Orlando counterparts: Pirates, Phantom Manor, Big Thunder Mountain. All absolutely amazing!

I found quite a few of the guests to be on the, well, impolite side but CM's were generally great!

Have a great time and don,t hesitate to ask if you have further questions...

I was there a out 14 years ago or so. I loved it - but comparing it now to WDW of course it is small.

I would however go back in a heart beat. Another site worth going to is Lego Land. I went to the one in Denmark about 4 1/2 years ago. My dd loved it too.

Take care

Thanks, or shall I say MERCI!

I am possibly thinking of staying at the DL Hotel and probably will be the begining to mid August.

This is of course that the rumour is true that DCL will be heading going across the Pond!

Hi Janet - have stayed at Hotel Cheyanne and the Disneyland Hotel and did a day trip from London for my birthday. The DL Hotel is beautiful as you'd imagine and so convenient being next to the parks. Everything is so much closer together, Orlando was quite a shock for me. Be warned though - queuing at DLP is not so civilised as WDW and for us from the UK it tends to be more expensive. I'm sure you'll get lots of help from the DLP board

I was there a few years ago and my brother in law was there with his family this summer. It can be a lot of fun but try not to compare it to WDW. Some of the guests can be very pushy and the CMs can be down right rude. A lot of the rides are amazing though! Their Big Thunder Mountain kicks the wdw versions butt! I also thought the food was great. I think the name of our hotel was Newport Beach club and I really liked it there. I wish I could have stayed at the Disneyland hotel though :)

Very Interesting! Not the first time I've heard that they have "Pushy" people!

Can't let that spoil the fun! After experiencing the "rude" guests at DL in California this past Christmas, I'm ready for anything! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

As for comparing to WDW, isn't that gonna be hard. Kept doing that at DL but each location has it's great points! :thumbsup2

I think the way DD's attitude has been developing.........They better watch out! :lmao: :lmao:

Do I have to start practicing my French?

They sure do have pushy people at DLRP, so long as your prepared and expect to have to hold your position while queueing you should have a great time

I'll be taking a business trip to Cannes this upcoming April and looks like I'll be able to sneak in a day at DL Paris :cool1:

One night at the Holiday Inn (Highly recommended by the way! best rates on property, cute and very, very clean), breakfast at the Disneyland Hotel and just enough time to hit all the major rides.

Stayed there with DVC points. Our stay included our passes and breakfast. And as I recall we had a pretty substantial continental breakfast and it was in the parks. We stayed at the Newport which was very nice. I have been to WDW and DL and I think DLP is the most beautiful! We had a great time!!!

That's Great to know!

I was also considering using points! Will need as much cash to use for that Cruise in the Med! ;) ;)

PS joanjett ~ would you be willing to pick up any maps? TIA

It helps to have a bit of French as the CMs are not always as bilingual as they claim! You also get better service if you make an effort to say a few words. I found the main problem was that the characters were not so carefully "handled" - I've got a picture from our time with Tigger surrounded by a sea of upheld autograph books! They also tend to close restaurants if its not a busy time - i.e. not a French holiday! - so book in advance and have contingency plans.

We stayed 4 nights and with small children that's plenty - actually without children you need less, as we had to factor in nap times and early nights! So make it part of exploring wider Europe to get the best value. And be prepared for it to be a lot dearer than Orland - though there is a retail outlet nearby

I've been to DLP a couple of times!

Both times I stayed at the neighbouring hotels, once at the circus-themed Holiday Inn and the other time was spent at Hotel Kyriad. The Holiday Inn was 50 GBP for one Saturday night in November for one friend and I. In late May my mum and I stayed at the Hotel Kyriad for about 50€ per night. A GREAT price! Comparitively, we paid 46€ for two beds in a very sub-par hostel in Paris. Both hotels were very nice and transportation to the parks was very good. I recommend hunting around online for some good prices ;)

As for the parks themselves, I found them very uncrowded! And as someone else mentioned, the lines to get pics with characters were incredibly disorganised. The Studios is not a whole-day park, especially if you have been to the Disney-MGM Studios since some stuff is duplicated. However, Cinemagique was sooooo good! :goodvibes

Visually, Disneyland is BEAUTIFUL! Especially Fantasyland.

So yeah, go to Disneyland Paris :sunny:

Just don't forget to go to real Paris too ;)

Oh, yes absolutely! I will pick up some extra maps :thumbsup2

OMG!!! I had completely forgotten about the nightmarish character situation. (Shudder). I have never experienced anything of the sorts! I kept taking pictures of characters being mobbed by a sea of children!

I just got a quote for 63 Euros for the Holiday Inn in May. This is my itinerary so far:

May 6th: Overnight train from Cannes to Paris.
May 7th 8AM:Transfer from Austerlitz to Marne La Vallée. Store my luggage at the Holiday Inn and head out to breakfast at Disneyland Hotel. Spend all day at DL, check into Holiday Inn room, return to Disney Village for some Apple Jacks at Billy Bob's (Jack Daniels and apple juice  ) and some shopping.
May 8th: Morning at DL, shuttle from Marne La Vallée to De Gaulle Airport, stock up on free cookies and fancy fruit juice in the first class lounge, Paris
to Montreal flight at 6PM.
:coffee: Collapse, relax! All this after a six day business trip overloaded with meetings...

Thanks!

At least you get to go to DLP too!

Have Fun!

Say Hi! to the Dragon for me!LOL

My daughter went last summer on her honeymoon. They found DLP very uncrowded and they enjoyed hearing different languages. They ate at a restaurant inside the Pirates of the Carribean and loved it. :sunny:
