Have just booked for October 13th and all I keep hearing is how cold it will be and how I'll need to take scarves, gloves etc. It's never that cold in the UK at that time of year so surely Paris can't be much different? I was thinking it would be nicely autumnal with needing a warm jumper and jacket - not hats and huge coats etc. Am I being very naive?!

I was a DLRP last October - the 2nd week of the month.
It drizzled rain a couple of mornings, but only for an hour or so. The rest of the time the sun was out, and it was pleasantly autumnal :goodvibes .

Have been in late October and during November and it was relatively mild on both occasions - certainly no need for heavy coats, gloves and scarves. It is fair to say that in the mid winter months it does get very cold in Paris. Lake Disney was frozen over during the whole of a 4 day stay at Sequoia Lodge in January a few years back but I would not normally expect it to be too cold in mid October

Hi we went last Oct just before Halloween and are going again this year. To be honest we expected the weather to be cold and packed accordingly and we got it soooooo wrong it was so warm we actually caught the sun whilst waiting for parades!! we had to buy t- shirts and didn't need a jumper till the evenings, if any thing we should have packed the sun cream! anyway i think we were really lucky but to be honest now i have to pack for both types of weather so i'll be more prepared!!! well thats my excuse for a big suitcase. Hope that helps :yay: :yay: :yay:

We have been 3 times during the 1st week of October and it has never rained once ! Last year we were walking around in T shirts for a couple of days as it was so warm. It's very similar to our own weather and can be very hit or miss !
We have been for a day trip before in August and it rained for most of the day !

We went 4th-9th Oct last year and it was warm enough for t-shirts.

I'd packed the winter essentials-gloves,hats,scarves. But I also took suncream and sun hats for my daughters. It was a good job we did. Never wore the scarves, but used up the suncream.

Suppose you never can tell:confused3

We must have been there similar times. We woke up to overnight drizzle but was fine during the day, not too cold although we wrapped little un up fairly well as we're all walking round but she was just in a buggy.

we went towards the end of Oct in 2006

it rained a little, but certainly wasnt hats / scarves / gloves weather!
and came out lovely and sunny at times too

i think we wore fleeces ( over t shirts) and then took with us waterproof jackets and small umbrella :)

Thanks everybody, that's great to hear! October is the lowest (or 2nd-lowest according to where you read it!) month for rainfall, so I'm not too bothered about that - I just didn't want to have to pack loads of heavy jumpers and scarves and so on - leaves more room in the suitcase for souvenirs then :)

:thumbsup2

TBH i would take gloves (just in case)as they dont take up much room and its not nice if your hands ARE cold brrrrr

but wouldn't bother with hats ,scarves, winter coats etc

you can always warm up with a hot chocolate anyway yum :lovestruc
