Anybody go last weekend or going this weekend????

I just read Al Lutz's article that Hydroguy gave us the link to and was wondering if anybody went last weekend and what they thought of the crowds fri vs sat vs sun....and if anyone is going this weekend if you would mind giving a report when you get back of the same thing..thanks

My wife and DD4 are there today. She told me that it was insanely busy. The lines to enter DL were almost to the California gates by opening time (9:00). Peter Pan had a 1 hour wait by about 9:30. If you are going this weekend, all I can say is good luck.

We were there last weekend and it was insanely busy! The New Orleans area was the worst. However, nearly all the rides had really long lines. We are going to try to take a make up trip, because our girls didn't get to do much.

We were there last weekend, Fri-Sun. Friday was the slowest day, Saturday was busier but still workable, Sunday was INSANEly busy!! We left early on Sunday because it was just ridiculous.

We were there Friday and Sat. Friday was def. busier to me. Parking was awful on friday! Luckily we made it into the park at 2:00pm before it was blocked out for a bit. Like above poster stated, new orleans was crazy with haunted mansion area very crowded. Space mountain was long. People began sitting for fireworks at 5:00 pm and the front of the castle and around was full and packed by 6:30-7:00. I know they had and extra showing at 11:30pm for Fantasmic on Sat and I believe they also showed a 3rd show on friday, but not sure. We were in CA sat morning/early afternoon and it was manageable. Toy story was 45 min around 12-1 and soarin about the same. It def didnt seems as crowded. Went to DL later sat afternoon and it was crowded but did 4 Fantasyland rides in a hour (not peter pan) and Haunted Mansion was at 30 min but moved fast and seemed like 20. Park seemed to clear out after 1st Fantasmic and Fireworks. Hope this helps!

Yes, it was busy. We always go in the off season and are not used to these crowds. The lines were long but it looked like Disney was running all the rides at maximum capacity (all the car / trains etc).

It definitely made fastpass a requirement.

On Sunday morning 8am, the lines to enter Disneyland were out to the center of the esplanade, but it only took 10 minutes for us to enter the park.

I believe you are correct. DW talked to a few people while waiting in lines yesterday and everyone of them was either from Utah or Arizona.

Oh I am sooo hoping the crowds will lighten up. We were going to go next week, but plans changed a month ago, and we are going the week after, however it is the week of Halloweeen.

We are from Arizona, but we are homeschoolers. I checked to make sure there were no fall breaks when we planned our vacation days. I didnt want to compete with everyone else.

I am eager to see how bad the crowds are...

It's funny that Friday seemed slower to us. Maybe because we were in the parks when they closed it. I don't know but it really felt that Friday was the slowest day. We also left DL at 5 and didn't go back until 11:30 to use our FP for SMGG, we did the ToT Party at DCA.
They definitely added the 3rd F! showing all 3 nights, we heard the announcements and we watched it Saturday during the 11:30 show. Man, that dragon is awesome!

I wouldn't think UT would've had much of an effect last weekend ~ the big fall break for UT was 10/1 & 10/2 ~ so most would've been there the 1st weekend of the month.


However a several UT school districts did not participate in the break earlier this month and have a break this Thur. & Fri. (today & yesterday) so maybe Utahns will have an impact this weekend.

We saw so many arizona license plates in the garage on tuesday and wednesday! I am going to avoid the parks this weekend and head back next week. Too hot for big crowds.

OMG your right...I totally forgot all about the AZ people coming last weekend...yeah its like ALL of AZ comes that weekend because of fall break...this is why I never go first or 2nd weekend of Oct...now I remember ...yeah I think it will calm down a bit next weekend...we shall see what happens this weekend..anybody goin??? pleaaaaaaaaase report back...

We have a free dinner that was arranged through CHOC since DS was in the hospital for his birthday and I just found out that it expires on 10/20! I don't actually have the voucher because apparently we have to pick it up at City Hall (something I also just found out) so I didn't know that it was about to expire. Anyway, we'll probably be there saturday so I can report back.

If the voucher expires on 10/20 do you think we could use it on 10/20 or does that mean we have to use it before then? Just trying to figure out if we should go on tuesday instead.

We will be arriving on Sunday the 18th and am hoping for lower crowds. I am hoping the crowds last week were due to the long weekend (both in the US and Canada) and the Utah/AZ fall breaks.
We purposely chose October for less busy, less hot.

Ditto on all that, we arrive Sunday as well. Avoided this past week because of all the fall breaks here in AZ. Hoping for manageable crowds - our last two trips have been insane crowd wise. But it's Disneyland and Halloween time, so it's gotta be good!

Was there last week (Friday and Saturday). It was really crowded but with Fast Passes, nothing was more than a 5-10 min wait.

It may just be age (I'm 38) but the lines really don't bother me anymore. Perhaps it's because so many of the rides me and my kids want to ride are Fast Passed so the few lines we DO wait in (Dumbo for 40 min; Mickey's Fun Wheel for 30 min) are only about 50% of our experience. Or maybe I'm just digging being there so much, heck, even the lines are fun?!?

Speaking of waits/lines, my youngest (4) has been trying to hit that magic 40' mark for about 8 months so she could ride Soarin' (she hears me and her older sister rave about it all the time). This trip we took her to the entrance of the ride and it looked to us like she had it met! The CM at the entrance said he thought she did but it was really up to the CMs inside to make the final call. I asked him if we could go see them now to see if she could make the requirement before we stood in the hour+ line. So he took us to the front of the line inside (down past all the old photos on the wall) and the CMs at the front measure my girl. All the people at the front of the line are shouting encouraging words, saying that she totally is tall enough,etc. It was really nice for me and my kids to get all the positive vibes.

Finally, the CM is like: yeah, she can go. And so we turn to go to the back of the mega line and the original CM is like, "Nah, come on..." and he takes us to the loading area of the ride right away and we're on the thing in like 5 minutes!!! How great/kind/sweet/fun is that?!?!

I am considering dragging my hubby down with me and the kids tomorrow...

We have the Costco So Cal passes (which I plan to upgrade) and I REALLY wanted to go during Halloween time.

Does anyone have any idea about crowd level might be tomorrow? I know its a crap shoot, just looking for opinions.... ALSO, how about the crowds mid-week? I should not take the little kids out of school but its tempting!!
