We were just there! It's a yucky day to be going anywhere today.

Yea, we're back too wet outside, but Ted's was great for lunch!

Pouring rain over here too...I think its going to be a yucky day all around Washington, Greenville, Bath, and all the way over to Morehead

Hey sajetto, I would love to hear more about your Fairy Tale Wedding!

Well we are getting married at Seabreeze pointe at WDW in Jan next year but we are hoping to change it to the Wedding Pavillion, we just have to wait for a space to open up. It is going to be an intimate ceremony with 18 of our friends and family and we are having a cake cutting reception at the Grand Floridian. We still haven't decided where we are going to take everyone to dinner but we want to eat somewhere where we can see the fireworks after. I'm thinking Either Ohana's or Cali Grill. Then me and my DH2b are going to honeymoon for 12 days at OKW in a villa. We are so excited we don't know what to do with ourselves! :Pinkbounc Come on down to the wedding and honeymoon boards and check us out! All the gals and guys are super and a lot of couples are doing vow renewals or second honeymoons :wizard:

Wow! That sounds great! I wish you all the luck in the WORLD!! I love Ohana's and you can see the fireworks and don't forget the Electric Water Parade it starts a few mintues afterwards. We watched them last Sept from Ohana's it our first night and it's a great way to start a vacation.

I'm planning to take both parents (early 60s) and brother (28) with his "friend" (she's 25) October 28th. This will be their first trip to the WORLD. It's going to be like taking the Country Bears Jumboree on vacation! But this us, Johnston County. My brother has told me he doesn't want in facy food to eat, daddy just wants chicken any way just chicken, so I have lined up buffets as many as I can on the DDP.

Thanks so much for the suggestions and good wishes! I hope you have a wonderful trip with your family. Good luck! :wizard:

I see that you have already gotten many replies but thought I'd throw in that I live in Greenville, about half way between Raleigh and the coast. Our driving time is usually 10 to 10 1/2 hours traveling with two children and making lots of stops. We travel to Kenly then take I-95 S to I-4W. I'm so glad to be close enough to WDW to be able to drive it easily within a day. If we had to pay for airfare, we'd not be able to go as much as we'd like.

How exciting to be getting married in WDW!!! Sometimes I wish I could go back and get married all over again just so I could do it at WDW. I wasn't such a Disney addict back then! Best wishes for a FABULOUS wedding! :bride: :groom:

We used to live in Harrisburg, just North of Charlotte, and it would take us 8 1/2 hours to get to the entrance to WDW including a few potty breaks and a drive thru or two.

Hey to everyone in the Triangle and surrounding areas. I am in Wake Forest a 10 minute from the mall off Capital Blvd (Triangle Town Center). We usually will leave around 9:30pm. We drive while the kids sleep. We stop 2 -3 times for gas and potty breaks at the same time. We usually get to Orlando at about 6am and stop for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. About 9-10 hr. drive.

Sajeto, my DH and I had dinner at Calf. Grill and there was a wedding party there. You could see Wishes from there and they pipe the music into the resturaunt.

We just got back two weeks ago from our first visit to the Fort. I've never been so down to leave a vacation.

It took us about 9.5 hrs. to Zebulon with a travel trailer. Easy drive but the speedtraps in Florida! Going down and returning, I've never seen so many troopers running radar as I did between Jacksonville and Daytona. They would sit by the road and literally stand at the edge of the highway to get someone they caught on radar to stop. Did we catch an unusual time of year or have others had the same experience?

Must have been something going on. In all my trips to FL (not just Disney), I have never seen anything like this. The most enforcement I have seen is usually the last 10 miles in GA before getting to FL line. I have seen them standing on the overpass shooting radar and at the next on ramp, there would be 5-10 cars waiting and pulling over the people the guy on the bridge called in. But I have only seen this once.

Only place I've consistently seen high density law enforcement is SC

Hi there I live in Raleigh and I am so glad to know that there are other people in NC that don't think that getting married at WDW is crazy. So when in January are you plannig to get married? I am having a small custom wedding at the Wedding Pavilion on January 14th, 2007 @ 2:30 PM... I am soooo excited that the date is finally in stone. Are you getting the Carriage? I had to have it.... One of the only splurges that I am allowing myself. OK that and Mickey and Minnie at the Reception. My reception will also be at the Grand Floridian.... It just can't get here soon enough...

Hi, we also live in NC.. just north of Raleigh in Wake Forest.

Google Earth puts us at 630 miles and 10 hours 56 minutes driving time (our door to MK Maingate).. :moped: but it always takes us about 12.5 hours to get there.. frequent stops.. an hour at Cracker Barrell etc. Also, it depends time of day we come through downtown Orlando.

Looks like I'm the only one near the mountains to post here.

:wave2:

I am in Elizabeth City and well used to no one else ever being from this town! Sometimes I think that I am the only one here!

It took us about 13 hours to Orlando,. It takes 90 minutes just to get to 95 from where I live and before you all go rushing to your maps, I am in the northeast corner near the Outer Banks and an hour south of Virginia Beach.

Hey "NCSTATE", We have a little fishing cabin on Lake Wendell!
Sajetto- I went to ECU, and have a Bro and SIL in Harker's Island. Go Pirates!
We live near Burlington. It takes us about 10hrs to WDW, although DH swears I made it home 1 time in 8 & 1/2 while he was sleeping. ;)

Hey Eeyore77! We are getting married January 8th at 2pm at Seabreeze pointe but like I said I really want the WP and I'm holding out for it. We aren't getting the carriage b/c we wanted to spend the extra money on an outside photographer, videographer, and the MK photo shoot. I really wanted Mickey and Minnie but its just not in our budget :sad2:

It looks like we will still be honeymooning while you are getting married. BTW congrats and you can PM me anytime!!!! :cheer2:

That's so good to know. I live in Clayton, not too far from you and we are taking our first trip in June. Driving of course. We want to leave early in the am around 4ish so that means we should arrive around 12:30 - 1pm. Sounds good!!!! Thanks for the info, another Johnston County native :bounce:

That's with perfect driving conditions, no stops, and perfect weather, and driving faster than the speed of light, none of which will happen. Not to rain on your parade but you have to figure at least 9 - 10 hours from Clayton. We go right by you every year. :teeth: This year there was quite a bit of traffic around Daytona and tons in Orlando, not to mention the construction. Also, the up and down of the speed limit can drive you nuts. It can go from 75 to 55 in a matter of miles.

We usually leave around 2-3 the afternoon before Disney ~ drive to around Jacksonville and spend the night so we're not dead when we arrive. We get up the next morning, have a leisurely breakfast and then arrive around 12 -1 at our resort, feeling ready to do whatever. On the way back we stay at Disney until 4 or 5 depending. This year we didn't get away until about 6 or 7 and with traffic and dinner we barely made it to Jacksonville to spend the night at 10. Got up the next morning hit the rode by 11 and made it home by about 7:30. That's with dinner and potty breaks.

That's all with hubby driving 5 to 10 over. You don't want to do more than that. The HP was out all up and down I95 this year (2 weeks ago).
