CarolA-
I believe this is the 3rd thread on this topic you've posted on! (I would know as I was an OP of one and am still praying for a happy outcome on this topic!) Thanks for still being friendly...I know some one here would let one know it for posting on the same subject.

Thanks for keeping things "positive" with your informative comments! I'm sticking with your frame of mind! :goodvibes

I just had to agree with this statement as I was thinking the exact same thing. :teeth: I've been following the airline strike threads as well and CarolA has always been reassuring without getting grouchy for having to answer the same type of question so many times. Thank you!

On NW, I don't have a clue. However, it would seem to me that it's the same kind of deal... the pilots should have learned from the mechanics.. NW is not going to deal and thier financial situation really doesn't give them room to deal. So if they strike, maybe NW will just give up and shut down and you can use the standby option for other airlines????

I flew NWA the day after the mechanics striked. While an airline can fly "without" mechanics (using replacements) it's going to be difficult to fly without pilots and FAs.

MY humble opinion is that we are soon going to see a merge between Delta and NWA.

Pinnie,
I think you may be right there. That rumor of the merger keeps coming up.

However, since NWA is closer to striking if the pilots really do strike then I think DL will just take over the routes....

As Pinnie noted, NWA flew when the mechanics went out. The union KNEW they were not going to be able to shut down the airline and really put pressure on the Flight Attendants to vote for a sympathy strike since "you'r next for cuts" The FAs apparently decided that yes, they were next but a job was still better then NO job....
