Anybody else miss John Denver?

I love John Denver!!!! One thing I will regret never doing is seeing him in concert.
I really enjoy listing to "Dreamland Express" and Christmas, and "Perhaps Love".
He was an incredible songwriter and singer.

This thread is so funny, I was just saying to my SIL, while listening to the John Denver Christmas album that it kind of makes me sad to listen to his music. I love all of his music and he died way too young.

Annie's song was our wedding song, a friend of mine sang it accompianied by a harp, just gorgeous. *sigh*

I was a big John Denver fan when all my friends were fans of the Stones and Doors and Jimmi Hendrix.
I got made fun of, but I loved his music.

I'm a John Denver fan. His best hit's CD is on my Christmas list! :) He really could write the best songs.

I do.
My parents listened to him when I was young and I thought he was kind of a dope.

But then, one night when I was pregnant with DS, DH and I were channel surfing and landed on "Take Me Home: The John Denver Story". We watched the entire maudlin, tear-jerking movie right to the very end. Then went to WalMart the next day and bought a copy of his greatest hits album.

I STILL tear up when I hear "Annie's Song".

You fill up my senses, like a night in the forest.
Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain...like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.
Come let me love you. Let me give my life to you.
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms.
Let me lay down beside you, let me always be near you.
Come let me love you. Come love me again.
You fill up my senses, like a night in the forest.
Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain.
Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses..come love me again.

I love John Denver too and miss him terribly. This was always my favorite as well. Did you know he wrote this song in 10 minutes. He said, when you really mean it, it's easy!

Edit: We too had this sung at our wedding.

We saw him twice at Redrocks! Unforgettable!

I also grew up listening to John Denver. I didn't appreciate his music at all until after he died. Now I love it.

Love JD, and miss him !

His was the first concert i ever went to (1972)
my current favorite song of his is "For you"

I have been a fan of John Denver for as long as I can remember. When I was in the 8th grade, my parents bought my sister and I ( and six of our friends ) tickets to see him in concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC. It was my first concert, and one I will never forget....even if we did have to go with one of the other kids Mom's as a chaperone.

I have been lucky enough to see him many many times in concert....in big arenas and small venues, by himself and with other musicians. Each and every one of his concerts were memorable. He used videos to enhance several songs including " Flying for Me", "What Are We Making Wepons For", and "Matthew", and they always made me cry. He was a humanitarian and pholanthropist, doing lots of work for the World Hunger Project and several environmental organizations. His music has touched so many people across several generations. At some of his later concerts it was common to see several generations....all singing along.

The world lost a great soul when John Denver died.

I've been a fan for years - he died my freshman year of college. I have a 2-CD greatest hits and a 4-CD collection. We used "Follow Me" in our wedding.

I think it was 1975 at the Cow Palace. It was an EST concert and my best friend's mom worked for Werner Erhard/EST, so we got to meet John backstage after the concert. I remember just standing there like a deer in the headlights. :rotfl:

I sure do miss him.......he was such a talent..

I am still on the lookout for the John Denver/Muppets Christmas special.

yes, he was an amazing talentented person.

I love all the muppet stuff he did too.

I love all his music, especially Christmas. Hard to believe he never won a grammy for his music.

I loved John Denver....I have a double CD set and when I'm in a mellow mood I like to listen to that....still get a little teary when I hear some of those songs! I love that they play Country Roads at Mountaineer Field at the beginning of the WVU football games....gets to me every time!!!!

I miss him too. DH and I love his music.

We saw him in concert once, in Tuscon AZ in 1982. Very great concert.

Well if it wasn't for John Denver....

He's what brought DH and I together, literally.

We were in college (1976) and I couldn't wait to see him in concert in Cincinnati. Another friend was buying a group of tickets, but they ended up being sold out!! I was crushed.

DH, who I knew through a friend, had tickets!! He asked me if I'd like to go...and that was on 4-26-76. Four years later when setting our wedding date, 4-26 was on a Saturday, so our anniversary is 4-26-80. And Annie's Song was sung at our wedding.

John Denver and the Muppets is one of our favorite Christmas albums.
