We got our kids a Goldendoodle (yes, Golden Retriever X Standard Poodle) for Christmas. After doing research, they are suppose to be low shedding and are to be good for those w/ allergies. So far so good, BUT she is worse than either of my kids ever were @ 2 y/o. Christmas morning she bit my DD playing and DD spent the entire morning on the back of the couch yelling put her in her cage!! Anyone else dealing with housebreaking & puppy needles, I mean teeth?

I heard those are really good dogs to have.. Was it a puppy bite??

Christmas is such a hectic time that it is hard to bring a new puppy into the house and give it the attention it needs. Hopefully when things settle down after the holidays, the situtation will improve.

We got my son a puppy for his birthday in April and it does take quite a while for them to settle down. You have to be very patient and your children will also learn patience during this process. I guess, I should mention, mommy got a puppy last April too (I couldn't resist!). So we had 2 puppies to deal with. They are almost 1 now and still VERY much puppies! But the puppy biting is completely over unless you are playing with them and purposely making them bite you. (they are small, only 10 and 11 pounds) Have fun and count to 10 when you get mad! ;)

When we got our puppy (2 years ago) the kids were on the couch with their feet pulled up. Jilly (the pup) was tearing around exploring. Jilly ended up clamped on to my DD sweatshirt when DD was petting her. The pup thought it was great fun to hang off the sweatshirt. And DD was yelling, "PUT HER IN HER CRATE!"

She was a 100X worse then any toddler.
However.....she's a GREAT dog now.

Hang tough....it will get better.

Thanks for the support and yes they are puppy bites, very loving little puppy bites. she looks like a baby crocodile when her mouth is open.

That happens.. I'm sure when the puppy settles down a lot - life will be much easier. My friend wanted on of those breds, we couldn't find a breeder in this area.

Sorry to say I wouldn't have gotten a puppy with a 2 year old. I had my hands too full with three kids under the age of 4. I hope it all works out. There will be more biting and as the dog gets older and bigger he will bowl over the toddler. Good luck. BTW my kids begged for a dog, we got one when my youngest was 5 and in K. They swore up and down they would feed him, pick up poop, etc. All of that is my responsibility, but I kind of figured that going into it.
