Delta is really making me mad. 2 months from our Cruise in January and airfare is still over $400. And I would still have to pay $63 a person for transfers. All our other trips ranged in $150-250 for airfare.

I know what your thinking: try another airline. For some reason Delta is the only airline to offer non-stop service from Kansas City to Orlando. Layovers with kids is for the birds.

Anyway,I am seriously considering driving to Orlando. Airfare and transfers will be almost $2000. Driving would be 1/10 of that probably.

Anybody drove there from Missouri?

Thanks

I drove down from St. Louis 2 years ago in January. We took our time and it took about two and a half days. We were traveling with a two year and took plenty of rest stops. We drove home in 2 days. Two long days. Driving cost us time, but saved us money. What would you like to know?

I'd take Southwest Airlines........they have non stops out of KC; and the prices are more reasonable;)

Are you sure SW Airlines has non stop flights out of KCI?

SW is more than Delta. And they have a lot more restrictions.

Just checked SW website and yes they do have direct flights from KC to Orlando in January...looks like fares start at $176 round trip...of course you'd have to check for your specific dates. Just an opinion, but even a one stop flight, with kids, may be better than 20 hours of car travel with them. Good luck;)

dear disney-junkie, i have to vote for flying with a stopover instead of driving from kc. we have done it both ways with children and its not bad driving down but the drive home wears you out and it makes you feel as though you never were on a nice vacation. as far as finding airfare try travelocity and put in that you are flexible on your dates and then you can search around for a good airfare and times and you can usually still get the dates you want for the least amount of money also then try southwest because they don't do travelocity. hope this is helpful, we have traveled alot with kids and the trick is in the toys and snacks. good luck!!

My kids tavel pretty well. They watch DVD's and play cd-roms on the laptop and if that fails they get out the Gameboys. But I agree with you Pokey. That drive back would be a long drive home.

But...our problem has been solved. My apology goes out to Wizzer. I thought Delta was the only airline with non-stop service to Orlando. Well, Saturday I called them up and they no longer have non-stop flights. Great. So I called SW airline and Bam! They have non-stops out of KCI for $240!! That is much better than Delta and $414 or Disney and $390.

So, that's that. Thanks for all your input.

BTW Pokey, where at in Johnson County are you? I go through there all the time. My SIL lives up there by Oak Park Mall.

WE always fly SW out of KCI.We are thinking about driving next July to WDW,going to take two weeks so we have plenty of time, We also live in Sw Mo ,Nixa MO... CBR99 AllstarmoviesFeb2001 Allstarmusic Aug 2001...

dear disney-junkie good for you on finding the nonstop to orlando. we live in about 5 miles south of oak park mall. have a great time on your cruise. just a heads up for future trips you can really fly pretty cheap into tampa and its only about an hour away from disney.
