Anybody done the Chichen Itza excursion recently on the Fantasy?

How was it? My husband is REALLY wanting to go, but the length of time to get there and the ferry are deterring me a bit. I'm not sure if we'd ever go on a land vacation to Mexico, so doing a cruise excursion to Chichen Itza now or in the future would probably be the only way we'd go.

I have been to Chichen Itza when we visited Playa Del Carmen. The ferry is the least of the problems. It is a looonnnngggg day of travel from Cozumel, probably a good 3 hours each way, and consequently the time at the ruins is not nearly enough to really see it all. Imagine getting into your car and driving 3 hours each way just to eat lunch. It is a bummer that you can't go on a land based tour because the ruins are really cool as long as you have time to spend there.

Yeah, the timing is really my only problem. I'm pregnant and so my husband said that he doesn't know if we'll ever get back there and so 40 mins is still worth it to him. This is a babymoon cruise for us so I figure I'll just pack lots of bagged snacks/protein bars in my bag, big a hat and umbrella, and just go with it. This is really the only full day excursion on the cruise that we're doing.

Have you considered just letting him go on his own and you can stay on the ship and relax? That way he gets to see what he really wants to see and you don't have to be concerned about such a long day of travel.

Question: Has the travel advisory been dropped for travel between the island of Cozumel and Playa del Carmen?

There were some issues several months back, but I don't know if impacted cruise excursions using the ferry's?

I have considered it, but then I think about whether or not I would regret not going to Chichen Itza when I had the opportunity.

As far as I know, yes. I know they had cancelled a lot of excursion after that happened but all seem to be available to book on our cruise. Guess we'll find out! I can't imagine they'd keep it open if they felt it was unsafe for passengers.
