Anybody color thier slip??

and I do love it but I really wanted red. It is darker pink then Cam's but not as dark as Goldeelox9. The trim on the bottom is the red but I guess the type of fabric the crinnie is made out of does not hold color. The netting is darker then the nylon. I am very happy with it and will see how it looks at my dress fitting this Saturday. I have not shown my DF and hopefully he will not find out. Right now it is hanging in our laundry room covered in a big black garbage bag. It definately needs some ironing.

Thanks for everyones help and all the great pictures (I promise I will add some also).

Linda

P.S. I ran through a wash cycle with hot water and bleach and most of the red came out. I will do this one more time before washing cloths.

angela, i think i used rose. i did that over a year ago :scared1: ! i can't believe it's been so long! i used the liquid dye for that one. i also did a "truffle" colored crinnie that i didn't end up wearing.

Run a load of Towels with bleach as your first load post dying. It got all of the Hot Pink out of my washer!

It is Pink...I love it!

Ladies, I'm stuck! I don't know if I should go with Rose or Fuschia!!! I was looking on the website and the create custom color page, and I was thinking of mixing the two. I'm afraid fuschia might be too dark, but rose would be too light, but on the custom color page it shows mixing the two as shocking pink... which actually looks purpley? I don't know how it would turn purple with those 2 colors, so I'm thinking that the computer is just not showing the color correctly.. do you think I'm right or do you think it will turn purple?

By the way, I'm going for something close to David Bridal's watermelon, that's what my bridesmaids are wearing... if anyone knows what that color looks like.

First of all, thanks to Lisa I now have pictures to show. I used Rit Dye in the Scarlet color. The trim, if you can see it, came out scarlet, the rest of the crinnie came out pink. I think the type of material just would not take the full color (I used two bottles and a cup of salt and hot water). I do like it in pink and I will see how it looks at my dress fitting this Saturday. I did find a red crinnie online. Not sure if I am allowed to post here so if you are interested, pleae PM me. It comes in red, white and black and no need to worry about dyeing.

Thanks again Lisa.

Linda

I know the color you are looking for and it is lighter then my Crinnie...BUT I used 3 boxes and ran it for 2 or 3 cycles. Maybe start with one Box and one cycle.

Linda you are welcome, anytime.

Does it come out even with one cycle? I'm thinking I may be experimental and mix them! I'm so excited to do it, I'm going to see if my mom will help me with it over the weekend!

Hey Ladies...I was originally going to dye my crinnie thanks to you lovely gals...but after doing test runs...i decided it just wasn't going to work for my wedding...but I wanted to offer a suggestion...I purchased fabric (the top layer and the netting) from JoAnn Fabrics and purchased Rit dyes from there...there are directions on the bottle/box of how to do test strips...I cut the fabric into little pieces and did test runs in small take out plastic containers...it helped me decide what color I wanted and I could see how the different materials would respond. This was cheaper than finding "extra" slips offline...hope this helps!:thumbsup2

I love all of the coloured crinnies...they all look so fab!! I am definately going to do this for under my wedding dress.

I used to use dylon dyes over here in the UK and I know that polyester fabric did not take the dye well at all. Maybe that is the same with Rit dye? I would imagine that the slip part of the crinnie is part polyester at least and obviously the thread at the bottom is cotton so it takes the dye extremely well.

My wedding colours are ivory & gold so I'm going to buy gold netting and get my mum to make me one as I think if I dye a ready made crinnie, it would end up looking too yellow.

Maybe that is an option for you girls who can't get the correct colour crinnie you want....It isn't mega difficult to make a crinnie, just a bit fiddly because of the amount of netting required.
