I think that's the name of it - the place up by Ocala with the glass bottom boats? We are thinking of stopping off there on our next trip. Is it worth it? I thought it would be fun to see some "natural" Florida. We also love places where you can see animals. We really enjoyed Gatorland on our last visit. DH has a "gator" fascination. If we go, how long should we plan to stay? Would it be crowded in December, like maybe around Sunday, the 22nd? Do they have any Christmas stuff??

I've been there. It's an OK place to visit. There is a glass bottom boat ride in the springs. You get to see a snuken boat (basically a rowboat) and some statues. You also get to see a lot of grass and grooves in the water. Another boat ride takes you further down the river to see some birds. There's also a bumpy jeep ride and some other animal exhibits.

It seems a little pricey for what you get, but if you can find discounted coupons, go for it. You can have an enjoyable 1/2 day there.

Yep. It's a nice half day. You should be able to get $10 off coupons in most books. There's a little theater and a few shops and restaurants at the side of the water as well. Plus there are details of all the "jungle" films and TV shows that were shot there. There are lots of 'gators around and you & they get pretty close at times.

There's also a water park next door so perhaps combine the two to make a full day out.

The one downside with SS is it does get much busier at weekends than during the week. Check out www.silversprings.com for the full details. It is a nice change of pace from Orlando and, while it is not quite as slick (or clean) as the big theme parks, I always find it an enjoyable visit and a real taste of Florida.
