Hi everyone!

Just wondering if there was any news about the Haunted Mansion Holiday coming to WDW this holiday season? :confused3

They probably would have announced something by now but who knows.

Thanks gang!

Have A Disney Day!!!

If you're meaning is the 'Nightmare before Christmas' refit, it will not be this year, perhaps next year. If you're thinking about the 999 Happy Haunts event-that was cancelled for this year due to the work load for the 50th celebration, but is planned to return in '06.

HTH

Yeah, I am thinking of the Haunted Mansion Holiday with the Nightmare before Christmas overlay. Bummer. Oh well, here's hoping for next year!

Thanks for the update!!

Nightmare Before Christmas

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Screamscape

"2005/2006 - Haunted Mansion Holiday - Rumor - (8/8/05) The latest rumor claims that not will the well received Haunted Mansion Holiday transformation happen this year, but they may have dropped the idea all together. Our source was told that their studies claimed that many of the foreigners who visit WDW either don’t know about The Nightmare Before Christmas film or they would just rather see the regular old mansion. If so, it’s a shame given how well received the ride was reported to be in Japan."

Wow, maybe never. I am really upset about that. I would love to see it. I have heard the music and think it is just awesome. That is a big bummer.

We've discussed this at length over the years on the Doombuggies Message Board. The general concensus is that WDW will never get the HMH overlay, for a number of reasons (all theories):

(1) Nightmare Before Christmas isn't as popular on the east coast;
(2) WDW can't afford to shut the Haunted Mansion down on a regular basis for the time needed to install and remove the overlay;
(3) WDW management doesn't want it.

In any event, if it were going to happen this year, we'd know about it by now. The first year it was at Disneyland it took a full month to install the overlay. That means the Mansion would be shutting down in about two weeks for installation, and nothing's been reported.

And I wouldn't hold out any hope for a Happy Haunts Event returning next year. I've been told that MNSSHP is extremely popular, and the HHE takes money away from it.

Wow, that was a very thorough and pleasant response. I posed the very same question at Doombugies message board once a while back and was shredded. Everyone that responded was rude and abnoxious. It must not have been you.

yes, thanks everyone for the kind & thorough responses. I still wish they would have it. Even like every other year or something.

We all know that Disney Imagineers never throw anything away. Even though it may not be this year, there's always a possibility of sometime in the future. Remember that our theories were just that--theories and educated guesses.

You can always plan a trip to Disneyland to see it.

thanks. Yeah i know this are all just theories but just the thought of not having stinks even if that won't be the case. I have appreciated all your thoughts and information. Couldn't ask for a better group than those right here on the DIS.

I never thought I would like the HMH considering that the Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride, but I think it's so neat. Wonder if any disney imagineers come do guest research on these type boards?

I know for a fact that CMs from Event Services visit message boards, so why not Imagineers.

wow, that's interesting. Wonder what the CM's look for? maybe ppl's reactions to events, etc.? Or new possibilities?

I would love to see it but doesnt sound like its in the future for WDW.
One can dream can't they.

just wanted to say that i see so many ppl on these boards from pa 1000th happy haunt. I am in the philly suburbs too. So far there look like 3 ppl just on this thread alone from PA!!!

Actually Nightmare Before Christmas isn't very popular on the west coast either.
The HM Holidays at Disneyland is an awsome show even if you had no idea about Nightmare. The music, the props, and the characters, all of it is incredible.
All that said, there would be some work to install at WDW HM, the ride path is quite different from DL HM. Most of the same things are there, just in different sequence.
The 'east coasters' would be in for a real treat if this came to WDW.
The best thing about this show is, for those who don't want to see the old HM change, it will be back to its original self after the holidays are over. It's a win, win, win, win situation.

I really like TNBC and Tim Burton stuff in general - can't wait for 'Corpse Bride', although I was not impressed with the Dollar bill being used in CATCF.. Grrrrr!

I think that Jack Skellington and co. could have been a good addition to the HM during the Christmas Holidays. Oh well.

yeah PA. Right outside philly here!

I sure hope the HMH comes to WDW someday, they really did a nice job with it in Disneyland!!!

I just heard a podcast about this. Just as previous posters have stated, that TNBC is not that popular and that the idea has been scratched for all parks all over. I was really looking forward to this, but oh well. We will all need to improvise. Everyone buy a charcter from TNBC and take it along with you in October. At least it will be something....
