I see these are on the menu at Cafe Orleans. We really want to get some while we're there...huge biegnet fans here  (we're from New Orleans) . My kids would be in HEAVEN if they could have these, but we weren't necessarily planning on having a meal here.

Anyone know if you can order JUST the biegnets for say dessert/coffee type thing, or order them to go? Are they available anywhere else in the parks? I know it's a sit down restaurant and this is sort of a tacky question, but...I gotta ask!;)

If that's a tacky question, I'm in big trouble!!! :rotfl2: Go for dessert if that's what you want to eat!!! Enjoy yourself---you're on vacation.

BTW---they were EXCELLENT at Cafe Orleans!!!!!

Cafe Orleans is a "sit down" restaurant, but like all restaurants in DLR, with the exception of very few, you are not waited on. You go through a line up to a buffet counter and tell the CM what you want or self serve depending on what you order. It is not rude to just get the beignets. . .trust me here. . .enjoy yourself. Its wonderful to sit on the patio at Cafe Orleans and sip coffee while eating beignets. . . .

Not only were we waited on (fairly poorly, I might add  ) but it was a pricey meal! It is not a buffet counter service any longer. They do have indoor and outdoor seating.

Wow, I haven't eaten there in a while. It must be that DLR is trying to "change" some of its restaurants to be "sit down". . .I don't often eat inside DL much anymore. The food at DCA is oftentimes much better and I just love Brannigans and ESPN zone at DTD, so that is where I usually spend my money.

Had the biegnets at Cafe Orleans and they were wonderful!!! Came with 2 different sauces to dip in. Yum!!! I don't see any reason why you can't order them to go, or to just order them at your table. I think even at the Blue Bayou, they let you just order desserts, from what I have heard. Good luck!:yay:

So the "fritters" are really "beignets"?? This is good info for morning take-out.

Are they the same type of beignets found at Cafe du Monde (in New Orleans)? :yay:

Thanks.

hound <---:surfweb: has a tough time reading desneegrl4eva's excellent posts (because of light pink font).

The only "Mickey Beignets" are at Cafe Orleans. The Beignets at Brennans are regular (oblong) shaped, and they don't offer the yummy sauces to go with them.

There is nothing wrong with going to Cafe Orleans just for dessert, but their food is good, so why not share a Monte Cristo, or a salad, or even the 'pomme frittes' (garlic french fries) beforehand and just add on a dessert? Whatever you decide to order, the Mickey Beignets are wonderful, and are only found at Cafe Orleans.

I've been skipping over this thread because I regret not getting these last week when I was there..........now I really regret it. I'm craving me some disney food..especially a monte cristo!

Ok I am going to have to try them next time I go in June. If they are anything like Cafe du Monde I will have found a new favorite food at DL!

AZ, since this ranks right up there with World Peace & the Invention of the Fast Pass, I think we need some clarification.

Califgirl (& Tinkermel) state that Cafe Orleans offers "Mickey Beignets" (I suppose i can go for that)...but they come with "dipping sauces".

Umm....i prefer my beignet's to be dipped in chickory laced cafe au lait....thank you very much (like Cafe du Monde in New Orleans). This magical combination ensures that the donut AND the coffee are yummy. She also mentions Brennans........ (Off Topic - does this Brennans have the world famous Bananas Foster  ??).... which has the more traditional oblong beignet - and i assume/hope are dusted w/ powdered sugar.

Now disneegirl4eva posted something about "fritters" at (i think) 2 other locations. So I have the following questions:

Are "fritters" essentially like beignets (found at Cafe du Monde)?

Are they (at all four places mentioned) covered in powder sugar?

Or do some locations disregard the powdered sugar for (blaspheme....) "dipping sauces"?? :upsidedow

Do any offer a chickory laced (or some type of "knock the crud off the radiator" wonderfully strong) coffee, or is it wimpy diner coffee?

Can one have a powdered beignet, with strong coffee & sit outside (at 9:30ish am) after doing EE & watch the world go by while one dips & sips w/ powdered sugar on your face & fingers? (Where?)

Does the Monte Christo indeed incorporate all food groups, & does it meet all of my very strict dietary requirements?

Was light pink font invented by the same person who created American Idol & car alarms on rental cars? ;)

Thanks!

I'm sorry this has taken on a life of its own:confused: , but I still need to add to this discussion. Please see below:

In my kids world, this does rank right up there...try living here post Katrina and you'll understand the importance of a trip to Disneyland and a biegnet!

Yea, I need the powdered sugar - I am a purist.

Now disneegirl4eva posted something about "fritters" at (i think) 2 other locations. So I have the following questions:

Are "fritters" essentially like beignets (found at Cafe du Monde)? And are they Mickey shaped??? I can get the "regular kind" here in New Orleans!

Are they (at all four places mentioned) covered in powder sugar? Need this answer, too.

Can one have a powdered beignet, with strong coffee & sit outside (at 9:30ish am) after doing EE & watch the world go by while one dips & sips w/ powdered sugar on your face & fingers? (Where?) And where can I do this with a -sorry to keep repeating myself - MICKEY SHAPED BIEGNET?

Thanks!

Anyone care to jump in while Hound and I help with world peace??

All kidding aside, 3for Me & I need to know the answers to these vital questions.

(both my questions on the previous page & 3for Me's questions above)

And please note that 3for Me requires the Mickey beignets....i can go with Mickey or "oblong"....but in both cases powdered sugar is a must.

If i don't get to the bottom of this, I'm going to blow an entire morning at DLR on a "beignet mission" (followed up - of course - with an order of Bananas Foster).

Ok I'm totally in on this too! Sounds like I need ALL these answers and quick!

Been going to DL for YEARS what have I been missing and are they as good as Cafe du Monde? ANYONE??? ANYONE???

The sanity of my world hangs in balance!

Umm!?! Haven't been to Cafe du Monde, so can't help you there....but the Mickey beignets ARE served wtih powdered sugar!:yay: The sauces are optional, but worth a try if you ask me. Rasberry and vanilla!!!:woohoo: But I"m not a purist of the beignet world. Geesh...I had my first one last year at WDW at the PO French Quarters. Yum!! So you see I'm just a newbie.:rolleyes1
PS- Where in the world is Cafe du Monde???:confused3 I suppose you need to go to New Orleans or something crazy like that????

YEA! Thanks for the anwer! Also, yes, Cafe du Monde is a famous eatery in New Orleans that serves biegnets and coffee. The most famous is right across from Jackson Square and the St. Louis Cathedral right on the Mississippi River. If you ever make it to New Orleans, you must try it!
