Any way to get a little discount on AP?

Any chance of getting even a small discount on an annual pass? We are not Florida residents so that isn't an option. Can you buy gift cards at a discount and then use towards it? Can you buy a discounted tix and then apply it towards an AP? I assume there is no benefit for using at the Cal location and it is Florida location only.

Figure I'd ask.... Cause you never know...

once you have the preferred or premier AP, you get a discount when you renew.

if you have a unused park ticket, you can apply that to the cost of the AP when you upgrade.

you pay the difference of the cost you paid for that ticket to the upgrade for the AP.

If you have a Target red card, you should be able to use it to buy Universal gift cards, provided they sell them at Target. You can use Universal gift cards to purchase your AP but only at the gate. Universal gift cards can't be used online.

Annual passes are already discounted in the price. As the others have stated, your "discount" comes at renewal time.

Just repeating what Mac said. If you purchase another type of ticket and then upgrade it to an AP, you will only get credit for what you actually paid for that ticket. Universal does not bridge tickets like Disney does. The winter before Harry Potter opened Universal offered those 7 day for $99.00 tickets. I bought one, used it in the spring, and loved Universal so much I decided to upgrade to an AP that first day. I assumed it would be like Disney where as long as you used the ticket once to get into the gates, that they would bridge the ticket to the current gate price and you'd just pay the difference. Nope! As soon as I mentioned it at guest services, the CM knew exactly what I was talking about and said unlike Disney that Universal does not do price bridging on tickets. She said they could tell when each ticket was scanned exactly what you paid for it and would give you credit only for that amount, toward a new annual pass and that the date on the annual pass would start from the date of the previous ticket's first use. They are well worth it though and I can't see ever being without the AP. You do get a good discount when you renew it every year. I think the renewal is only like $172.00.
