Hi Everybody,

We're planning on doing one of the water parks during our August trip. My kids are 9, 6, and 6, and are pretty good swimmers.

Which water park would you choose? I think the kids would like to try Blizzard Beach, so that's what we're leaning towards.

We are staying on-site and will try to get there for the EMH opening. Do you have any good tips on where to sit, what to do first, etc.?

Thanks for the help!

Mike

I would go for BB, I think the rides are much better (lots of tubes rides including the family raft ride which is much better than TL's). We never go to TL anymore just BB for the morning. If you want a lounger then go find one first (we dont get one coss we only spend half a day there), then go to the most popular slides first. Also make sure you go on the ski lift (shorter lines first thing in the morning), its a lot of fun.

Tip - don't say you'll meet in front of the lazy river, there are so many freaking entrances and then when you get hot you want to go in the lazy river and man, me and DH we're split up for probably over an hour.

Please do not forget water shoes. They are a must. The grounds, paths are extremely hot. Lot's of sunscreen and hats too.

Pick a landmark and find a chair or chaise there. After a while in the park, you will forget which chair covered by which white towel belongs to you. Find something in the shade if you go in the summer.

No matter how waterproof your sunscreen says it is, make sure you go back to your chair/locker to reapply at least every couple of hours. :sunny: It never fails, I have so much fun at the water parks, I forget to do this and get fried to a crisp each time!

Thanks for the tips. I hate water shoes, but I just may have to break down and buy a pair if I can find them cheap enough. I learned my lesson about sunscreen on our honeymoon. I lathered up really good, except for the tops of my feet. I didn't want to wear any shoes for the rest of the trip!

Thanks again guys!

Mike

To find a chair in the shade go towards the back of the park. You will have more options since the front of the park fills up first.

You can buy a refillable mug for $10. It will have a bar code sticker on it and you can get free refills all day long. If you decide to go back another day you can get a sticker on the mug for $5.

At BB do the family raft ride. It is so much fun and you can all ride together.

Another vote for the water shoes. We always go to BB & TL several times each trip & wear water shoes...except for this past May. We decided to try it w/o the shoes, & boy was that pavement hot!! We almost had to carry DS8!

Also, goggles are a must for my kids every trip!!

We also bring a water camera for each kid to use. Each camera comes with a rubber strap that the user can wear around his wrist so that it doesn't get lost. I buy them at Target before our trip. They are more than twice expensive once you get to the waterpark.

Also, rent a locker or don't leave any valuables unattended at the park. We had stuff stolen from our beach bag while we were at BB in January. We were not the only victims at BB that day either. Luckily, only our water camera, a pair of goggles, & DS8's new Star Wars toy was taken.

I vote to not bother with the water shoes - they're too much trouble. We were at BB last week, and never did the "hot pavement dance". Most of the people we saw did not have them on - or they were carrying them!

Go as early as possible and you'll walk on to the slides, then duck out around lunchtime when the lines start to get annoying.

If you hate traditional water shoes, consider Keen waterproof sandals. They're not inexpensive, but they're also not just for going in the water. We wear them to the main parks, too. Great for those aftn rain showers. Breathable, dry quickly, good support and toe protection. We wear them all the time at home, too.
