sorry meant DW!!!! so we're thinking of visiting dw for a long weekend the 1st weekend in dec. i will be in my 8th month of preganacy at the time ( due last part of jan ) and i'd like to know if any of you have done this before, how was it & am i nuts for wanting 1 last trip before the baby??? we have a 4.5 y.o son. i am currently 17 weeks along and doing fine. i have only gained 3 lbs and things are a-ok activity wise. i am just wondering if i'd be able to handle all the walking & stuff....

I would check with your Dr. depending on how far DW is from your home. Many Dr.'s don't want you traveling more than a hour from home in your last couple of months. Otherwise I would say it all depends on you. I wouldn't of been able to I was very sick when I was pregnant and I could only wear house slippers and me feet swelled so bad you couldn't even see my toes. It was gross. I was good for short amount of time but I also had GD so I had to check blood sugar levels with a lot of walking.

Best of luck to you and congrats on the baby!!!

I doubt that your Dr. would OK the trip, but you could always ask and see what he/she says.

I'm an OB nurse, and I know most docs say don't go more than an hour from home within a month of your due date. You'll be more like 6-7 weeks from your due date. If you end up delivering at Celebration hospital with a 33-34 week premie, chances are you're going to be stuck in the area for at least 2-3 weeks, maybe longer, til the baby's ready to go home, and then you have a long trip to make with a newborn just to get home.

I would suggest moving the trip up by several weeks so you're not so far along, or postpone until the baby's at least a few months old.

I don't necessarily think you'd have trouble with the walking and stuff. I never had to limit my activity at all during pregnancy, though some people do. The main thing you'd have to think about (other than preterm labor) is you'll be at high risk for a blood clot if you sit for long periods, like on a plane or in a car, so make sure if you're driving that you stop at least every 2 hours to get out and walk for a few minutes to keep your blood flowing, and try not to cross your legs when sitting.

How many weeks will you be? I am due the first part of Dec and any *real* travel from 35 weeks on is prohibited. You might be right on the cusp of cutting it off. Before making any plans, I would ask.

However, seeing how wiped out my friends were right before giving birth, I would not know what to do. My doc says not to sit more than 2 hours straight, but even now at 24 weeks, walking around a lot in heat wipes me out. And I am normally a VERY active person.

I didn't go to Disney but I did spend a few days with my older two in US & IoA when I was between 7 1/2 and 8 months and did just fine, and that was in July! If you have healthy, uneventful pregnancies, I would say you should be fine.

I did a WDW trip when I was 33 weeks. My Dr. gave me the ok but really stressed the importance of taking it easy. We had free airline vouchers that were going to expire so thats the main reason we chose to go at that time. I probably wouldn't do it again but if your dr says its ok go and have fun but take it easy.

Been there done that!!! (I have been pregnant for our last few trips.....I'm afraid to book again, cause everytime I do, I find out I'm preggo!!!)

I was just before the cutoff....I was 33 weeks. I am Diabetic (type 1), but I was extremely well controlled, and with my OB's blessing, we made one last trip before #3 was born. (#2 was 18mo old.) It was ok though...We tried to tour in the mornings, before it got too hot, and in the later afternoons. I would take the little one back to the room for a nap after lunch, and I would take one too. Playing in the pool in the early evenings was nice too, kept the pressure off the joints!!) We are a 3 hour plane ride, and I just made sure I got up and moved a little during the trip. (Wasn't hard with a toddler!!) My DH would take our oldest (5) to the water parks during the hot part of the day, or to ride the big rides....(they would do a commando raid on a particular park, and then either come back to the room, or I would meet them. I took it easy, and we had a ball...

Please don't do it. Two weeks ago we had a preemie join our family at 34 weeks. Mommy was absolutely healthy, young (but not too young) and proceeding right on schedule. She went into labor at 34 weeks, had to be taken to a hospital with a neo natal center 70 miles away (we all live in a small town), her mom missed the birth as she thought we had "plenty of time" and went on an out of state trip, and now the baby is in hospital 70 miles from home with the little family jumping through all sorts of hoops to deal with food, lodging etc.

Obviously I am not very objective about this right now, but Babies can surprise you.

My family and I have plans to go to DW in December as well. I will be 31 weeks(I'm due feb 11th), I asked the OB at my first visit (this was major surprise, the pregnancy)she said their cut off is 32 weeks, and since I will be 31, i will be just fine. I'm not worried about walking or heat or any of that, I'm more worried that I will run into third semester complications. This is my 4th pregnancy, with my first, I was pre-eclamptic, and the second, I got jsut high blood pressure at the end. My third was very uneventful...no complications what so ever. I am praying that this pregnancy will be the same as #4.

If you do a search on the DIS, you will find many threads about women going when pregnant, 32, 33 weeks etc. Most of them say the same thing, take breaks, rest, drink lots, avoid all rides taht have the pregnancy warnings...I think you'll be fine.

Oh and congratulations on the pregnancy! What an exciting time in your life!

We are planning a trip in the middle of December, 6-20th I will be 32 weeks when we leave, almost 35 when we return. I don't see a problem with the trip (we will be driving from central Texas).

With my last baby we flew to England when I was 35 -37 weeks preggo, that was fine with my dr.'s.

I think if you and the baby are healthy, then there shouldn't be a problem!

take it easy!!
