Hi, my DD is in kindergarten and I was wondering if anyone had any great ideas for cards etc. I wanted to send in a small something to give each child any suggestions? Anyone know any sites to get some cute cards? Thanks for any help!

Alot of the cards now come with candy that attaches to the card. Just check Target, Walgreens etc. May not be the most original cards but the kids are usually more interested in the candy anyway ;) .

oriental trading company had some cute valentines in their catalog, probably on their website, too.

I am using this idea (was in Family Fun several years ago). I bought several small plastic shovels in red and pink and am writing "I Dig You" on them with a white paint pen. I then bought small plastic bags and will put some candy/stickers in there and tie it to the shovel. The shovels were I believe 30 or 40 cents a piece.

I don't know about your school systems, but around here we aren't allowed to send in junk food and candy. It's kind of a bummer since I used to love the parties at school when I was a kid. There are some cute bookmark Valentines in the Current catalog. I am sure others have them too. There may even be a site that has a template so you could make your own.

I am going to send Valenine's cards in to my older son's nursery class and my younger son's playgroup class. I'll watching reading this thread for more great ideas!! :flower:

For dd (9) we always just send in cards, but now it is getting hard not to find those little kiddie cards, but something for a tween-like girl to give. For ds (4 will be 5) this will be his 2nd time in a school setting. We do the card thing, but it is his birthday so for the party that they have at school we get first dibs on what to bring in for the party - usually cookies, cupcakes this year I am thinking maybe munchkins. Since he has a birthday party right around Valentine's Day we save the party bags for his party outside the school - Valentine's theme of course.

We purchased Tatoo Valentine cards at Ralphs(Kroger) this week. They are puppies and kittens and were 36 in a box for $2.99.

I LOVE this idea. I'll keep it in mind and look for some cheap shovels and use the idea for DD for next year. CUTE!!

Also, the Target Dollar Spot section has some cute Valentine things. Oriental Trading is always GREAT, too.

dollar tree has 24 treat sack valentines for a $1.00. I bought dd the suzy chick ones and ds the batman ones. I also bought a couple bags of red lollipops and some little plastic hearts to go in with them also. Im going to put in either a box of the conversation hearts ( costco has them for right around $6.00 for 36 boxes) or the little bags of m&ms. Im thinking the m&ms may fit in there better than the boxes.. we will see..

Depending on how crafty you want to get (although you're starting early, so that's a good sign!)...

You can find foam hearts in a bucket at craft stores like Michael's. The bucket I found had three sizes of hearts in several jewel-toned colors. If you put three same-color-and-size hearts together with their points facing in and their rounded ends facing out (overlapping slightly) and then take a smaller, different colored heart and lay over the points, they resemble a flower. I took a shish-ka-bob skewer and poked a hole down through the middle and put a lollipop in the center. I used the small dum-dums, but you could use the larger, Tootsie Roll kind. This is pretty economical, I didn't spend very much and had to make 40 some, between dd's preschool class and playgroup. They were a little unweildy, so I bought a package of the small cellophane gift bags to put each one in (20/$1).

I have chocolate candy molds inthe shape of hearts to make lollipops out of and I think iam just gonna make each child a choc. lollipop and wrap them with some cute wrapper and tie a ribbon on it. For the class snack I will probably make cupcakes in the shape of one big heart. I make cakes as a hobby so I am always making cupcakes for the class.
