Does anyone yet know the status of the CR rehab? Specifically when is the 14th floor scheduled to be done, or has it been completed already?

We just returned from a two night stay on the 14th floor of the contemporary -- NO rehabs have been completed yet on the 14th floor -- and the staff did not have any idea when the 14th floor was scheduled.

While we were there the 10th floor was completely closed off for rehab -- along with the entire South Wing. It was very noisy at the contemporary with all the rehabs going on. In fact, it was hard to hear one another at the pool b/c they were even doing work on the tower balconies on the 10th floor.

It looks like they are doing one floor at a time.

hope that helps.

Any noise in your room on the 14th floor? How about when you were on the 4th floor walking around?

What room number did you have, and how was it? I've heard reports about the rooms being really bad lately (peeling paint, sagging ceiling tiles, scuffed walls, etc.) and I'm a bit nervous.

How was the concierge staff?

kaceyisme,

There was no noticeable noise in our room -- we were on the Magic Kingdom side -- while the work on the balconies was on the bay lake side.

Most of the 'noise' was created from the work on the balconies and over in the south wing --- while on the 4th floor we did not hear anything from the construction inside the bldg. They had the entire 10th floor draped off -- if you looked up from Chef Mickeys you could not see 'into' that floor b/c there was large white sheets hanging.

We had reserved a 14th floor 2-bedroom suite for just two night as an add-on to our stay at the Polynesian -- it was a once in a lifetime thing to celebrate our 25th anniversary -- and all five children were with us. We were upgrade to 4910 the presidential suite. Honestly, it was a nice suite -- but for the money it could be a lot nicer. It is in need of upgrade and repair -- but that's not to say there's anything 'horrible' about it. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Can you tell me a little bit about your stay on the 14th floor? I have a 1 bedroom suite booked for Sept and I'm thinking about rebooking on the 12th floor, or should I say 10th. I'm nervous. Was wondering if you thought it was worth the extra $.

this is hard to say. :confused3

if we stay at the contemporary again I would stay on the 12th floor (lite concierge).

I found the 14th floor lounge small and not as 'friendly' as the polynesian concierge lounge. The staff was professional and nice -- but not the comfy -- laid back feeling of the polynesian lounge.

also, maybe it was just during our stay ... but i found the food selections very limited -- which didn't matter much to us b/c we were on the dining plan -- but i was surprised that they were not all that spectacular in comparison to the polynesian.

that said, the staff on the 14th floor was very nice -- but seemed too formal. but the funny thing was we stayed 8 nights at the polynesian before staying at the contemporary 14th floor -- not once did i see barefeet at the polynesian lounge -- in the two days we were at the contempoary there were 2 people in the lounge without shoes on. Now, it doesn't bother me one bit if someone has their shoes on or not ... but i thought people here on the disboard would get a kick out of that.

feel free to pm me if you have specific questions about the rooms and stuff.

Thanks LorieDisneyLover!

When you say that the food selections were limited, do you mean the breakfast too? That is really all I am interested in, because most days we won't make it back for the evening offerings. Do they have a decent selection in the mornings, like fruit and yogurt, as well as cereals? Thanks for all of your answers!

Has anyone heard when the south wing rehab is going to be complete?

I read that they started work on 10th floor which is suppose to be completed by end of August and then start on 12th floor. While that is going on, the 10th floor will be used as the "concierge light" floor.
