It's not true, at least not at this time... but if it were, well, why would it be so horrible for Disney to institute a practice already widespread throughout the food service industry at all price levels?
There are some restaurants that do charge a sharing fee. Personally, I've only been in one but have shared meals in other places with no charge whatsoever.
I know there are people who do tip according to what a meal would have cost but there are so many people who will just get the bill and put down a tip on the total without figuring in anything extra for the shared meal.
A charge for sharing a meal is kind of a toss up for the restaurant. Do they charge for the sharing option, thereby forcing people into ordering two entrees and then end up throwing away half of both meals? Or do they serve one meal without an extra charge and have the entire meal eaten?
Say it isn't so! We often share with our girls because they like the regular menu entrees but can't eat the whole portion. This way DH and I don't stuff ourselves and they get to eat a medium steak instead of the tough shoe leather well done piece of sirloin that is usually on a kids menu (not jsut Disney but everywhere).
We have a local steakhouse that we love but it has huge steaks (16oz ribeye). We have shared with the girls there but have noticed that they tack on a sharing fee. Even sharing we can't get out of there for under $60 for the four of us!
I think that for a TS buffet, each adult/child has to use their own credits...On a plate TS, I have always heard that anyone can share on a plated table service...Someone please correct me if I am wrong!
