Has there been any official or unofficial announcement to planned activities for 2005. I know there will be something in May but just wondered if there was anyone here "in the know".

Thanks,

Tina

I called Disney Cruise Line last week, trying to book for summer of 2005, knowing full well that they aren't taking reservations for that time for the Magic. The CM told me that they don't know when the bookings will open up..."could be one day, one week, one month".
I asked if I could book the Wonder and switch to the Magic just to "hold" a reservation, and was told no.
The closest anyone on here or the cruise DIS board have come to finding anything out is that an official announcement should be coming by the first of May, this year.
I just keep checking on DCL's website for the dates to open up.
All I know is that IF the Magic comes to California, I WILL be on it, no matter what I have to do!!!

justmestace,

I'm with you!!! I check the DCL site everyday to see if the "rates/dates" on the Magic have changed. I will book anything that opens up: during school, weekday, weekend, I don't care...I will be sitting in a deck chair on the West Coast!!!

So if this happens, would there only be one in Florida and the Magic would permanently be here, or would it rotate or something. That would be great, as we have never went just due to the airfare for us to fly to Florida when that alone pays for about a whole week at Disneyland! Hope they let us know in May.

We're planning to come to DL for the 50th and possibly do a DCL cruise. All dates for 2005 except May 15 to Sept 3 have been released, so it looks like it will just be a temporary switch if the ship comes to California. We booked for one of the last available dates on Magic in 2005 spring and plan to change. My belief is that if the announcement is coming early May, it will coincide with the announcement of DL's 50th (May 5). Now if you ran a group of big companies, would it make sense to announce two big events (DL's 50th and new cruise itineraries) on or about the same date if the two weren't related? No, that would take the wind out of one or both of the announcements. They have to go to California!!!

So, this is the first I'm hearing of all this. What exactly HAVE you heard? What is the rumored plan? Does anyone know where it will sail from (LA, SF, San Pedro, Long Beach....) What is the proposed itinerary? Are they considering this to be permanent or is this just for Disneyland's 50th YEAR, or only a very FEW sailings?

Please share everything you know or have heard. I'm so excited. MUST be on that ship!

bumping this, even though we will be trying the 4 day DCL trip this summer. I would love to do this too.

There's another rumor that Disney is building a new ship. Maybe the Magic will move to CA when the new ship arrives in FL?

The only problem is that we went on the Magic when it was doing the 3 & 4 day cruises. Then we wanted to go for a week with a different itinerary, which was again on the Magic. Now, if it moves to CA, we'll need to go on it again to try that itinerary. I guess we're just meant for the Magic...

Just last week I sent an e-mail to DCL asking why there were no sail dates posted for the Magic after April 30, 2005. I got a canned response that basically stated they were looking into new itineraries, nothing specific, and definitely nothing "West Coast". I'm just going to check the website every week or so as it looks like it will be a temporary move (if it happens at all) and I'm sure the dates will fill up almost immediately once the word gets out. More than likely, this is a way for DCL to test the waters (no pun intended ;) ) to see if having a West Coast based ship should be a permanent thing. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!!!
