Background: We're a fam of 6 (including 2 kids under age 3) staying CL at Boardwalk over Thanksgiving. AP holders. We've had dining planned since 180+, including an early dinner ADR for Yachtsman on Thanksgiving.
My FIL *just* found out he's being sent to FL for work (related to hurricane relief). We see him maybe one day, once a year (we live 4,000 miles from him, and if we don't see him this trip, it'll be at least another year before we see him). He has Thanksgiving off, but being the cheapest person on earth and having no interest in Disney, he doesn't want to buy park tickets. Instead, he wants to join us for dinner.
DH called the concierge to see if we could add him to the ADR and was told they didn't see availability but to call back every day, and if they still haven't found anything, then just show up with the extra person. UGH. I've been around here long enough to know that's not a great idea.
Are there many larger tables at Yachtsman? If I set up an ADR finder to try to snag an ADR at the same time as ours, should I do it for one person or two? (I've read some restaurants, like 'Ohana, don't come up with ADRs for one.) Or should I search for an ADR or seven, or would eight be better (is it easier to find for an even number)?
