Any tricks for getting specialty magic bands ordered

I had no issue ordering the new specialty magic bands for our upcoming trip that only had 2 on our reservation. However my 8 person trip in September is a different story. I have been trying on and off for probably 3 weeks to order these with no luck. Inventory changes so frequently it’s hard to get everyone (who lives in 3 separate cities) to decide on choices before it changes again. I finally just had everyone give me a variety of choices but I keep running into “we are unable to complete your request” or the page is down when picking bands and/or finally trying to complete the order etc. I’ve tried it from my phone and computer, multiple browsers etc. nothing is working. Has anyone found a workaround to this?

we there are no tricks to make it eaiser the whole process simply sucks.. We are a group of 4 and I have been trying for weeks to get the 4 top fav bands for all of us.. either one is available and the rest not.. We have 3 sets of bands too.

So bascially expect to only get a few bands of your choice. There is no way to only place and order for what is avail and then go back and add the rest.. once an order goes out, the entire reservation is closed for magic band changes.

the "unable to complete" meant for me just now that one band that showed up to select is no longer avail. if you scroll up you see that band is then removed from that person. Just with my son, the 2 choices I had were then sold out, even though I could choose them..w hen you go to chekc out it then gives tht erroe. I finally gave him BB 2 magic band and then the order went it.


I have been checking for about 6 weeks and inventor is ver sporatic.. I have yet to see the haunted mansion one.. does it really exist. lol

The only thing you might not have tried was incognito mode on Chrome. It was the ONLY way I could order two Moana bands yesterday morning. Regular Chrome kept giving me Donald (I think it was Donald) access denied. I would get through on Edge, but nothing ever worked. I also deleted all Chrome DW cache and cookies, but that didn't seem to matter. Now, if they are really out, as mousefan23 said, you may get to the cart point but will get the can't complete order message. That happened dozens of times when I was trying for Spaceship Earth--on that son had already ordered/confirmed but never received end of June (last year's AP). After he rolled over to this year's AP in July, he was able to get another of his choosing. We both got the ones we ordered at that time. DS2 ordered his AP when he saw Small World a week ago. I don't know if it shipped.
Not doubt about it, it's a mess. Trying to order for 8?? Bless you. Good luck.

That’s why I’ve made everyone give multiple options because it’s never the perfect match for everyone. I know we can’t do “partial orders” but we do have a split stay so I sort of could do that by using the other stay to order another set of bands but that’s the least of my problems at this point. I’m just trying to get something for everyone.

As far as the “unable to complete” that was my first thought too, it ran out, but this is not how it’s working. First it happens on solid colors too and we know those don’t run out and when I refresh the screen the options are still there and it was happening on at least half the choices every single time so I’m inclined to think it’s more an IT issue than a stock issue.

I did get the hunted mansion outfit (not wallpaper) band for our first trip. I wanted the wallpaper for this trip and saw it one of the times but was gone by the time everyone got back to me.

There are basically 4 hurdles you need to cross:

1 - Seeing the MagicBand that you want listed under the Premium section
2 - Ability to confirm the MagicBand selection
3 - Ability to continue to checkout
4 - Ability to pay and complete the order

You can get snagged up at any one of these along the way. I've gotten so far as to enter payment details (number 4) for 2 premium magic bands to have it 'complete' the order but having it only order one and not the other.

The only advice is, keep trying (often). They release different designs all day, every day. You want to select a magic band right as they change inventory. The system is very poorly designed and it shouldn't be this hard but this is the way it is.

Using an incognito window every time is good advice as well.

Yes! You hit the nail on the head. I’ve gotten as far as 3 before and got stuck. I’ll just keep at It and try incognito mode.
