Any touring tips for entering MK late in the afternoon?

We are heading to WDW this November. Our first day in the parks will be Sunday, November 6. Our first stop will be AK. DS 5 has a long list of things he wants to see there! Mid-day we will be taking a break at the resort then heading off to MK. DH hasn't been to MK since 1989! I have lots of great touring tips from different threads and books on how to start my day at MK, but I have NO idea what to do if you are arriving there around 4:00. Any suggestions? Is one area of the park typically more crowded than another later in the day? Are there any rides/areas we should avoid until we go back another day in the morning?

Much thanks!

We went in September last year & went to MK around 4pm. Sept is very uncrowded, but I bet early Nov will be too. We have girls so we planned to hit the shows (Belle's Storytime & Cinderella's Surprise celebration - now Cinderellabration) but ended up going straight to Fantasyland (just in time for the Sword in the Stone show which I'm sure your ds will love). It seems like a lot of the families with little ones had left to go home for naps or had done Fantasyland earlier in the day. We walked onto everything, except the carousel & Peter Pan, but only had small waits (maybe 15 min) for each. We didn't go on everything since we were going back to MK the next morning so we didn't do Dumbo or Pooh but I think those were the only Fantasyland rides we didn't do that 1st afternoon. Oh and tea cups since that is down by Pooh, we just didn't go down to that area. And IASW was closed for renovation. Most kids want to go right to Fantasyland anyway so you may as well go! You can knock off some rides & then have fewer to do the next time!

I can tell you one thing about Fantasyland and Toontown. A great time to go there is around dinner (6pm-ish) Seems like it clears out for dinnertime.

We were there in May and it was very crowded all during the day at Fantasyland and Toontoon, but when we went at 6pm the waits were only about 10 minutes (even for Dumbo) and the character lines in Toontown were WAY shorter than earlier in the day too. We even walked right on to Goofy's Barnstormer! I bet your little guy with love that one!
