Any tips on how to prevent stroller theft?

I ironed on a picture of our kids with our name onto the hood of our stroller...and it worked great for our new stroller!

Here's a blank I got from another dis'er

What outside stroller rental company has anyone used in DL? I have a 18month old and we will have her car seat with wheels for the airport, but I wanted something for the hotel and DTD, instead of carrying her to the park entrances, with bags, etc...

As far as renting one, I'm not sure on the price. But I do know if you have a Disney credit card, you can rent one per day for FREE! However, I would caution you against doing this....it's like a sea of these things out there! It's difficult to try and find your rented stroller when so many folks have one and sometimes another family might accidently take your rented one without really looking to make sure it's theirs. Plus, I've heard they aren't really comfy and don't work for infants or older kids. They are a jogging stroller style, and my son was 3 at the time and he would never have fit comfortably in one of these!

The Disney Visa only gives you a 50% discount now -- they stopped doing the freebie rental last year.

Geez...that sucks. IMO, the only reason I would ever have rented one vs. bringing my own was that it was Free! Yet another reason why I would suggest not doing this and just bringing yours from home!

And that iron on...cool idea!!:cool1:

We always brought our better strollers over the years simply for comfort of the kids. Days can get really long and having the kids comfortable is primary. I'm the one who can't stand the squeaky grocery cart so I want my own stroller that I can navigate smoothly. :rotfl2: We would personalize with bandanas and lights...just enough to make it a pain to remove if one were to try and walk off with it. My sister brought a lock for her stroller one year and never used it. Too cumbersome. (love the iron-ons - great idea!)

Travel Babees will deliver a stroller to your hotel, and I've heard good things about them from this site. We're using them for car seats - they're being delivered to the rental car agency at SNA!

I have never really worried about stroller theft we have a double maclaren. The only thing that has worried me is either grabbing someone elses by mistake or having ours grabbed by mistake LOL.. (same stroller) So I hung a luggage type tag that I made from it last year and will again this year..

I hope you have better luck than we had keeping your double Maclaren, LOL! We filed a report at the DLR's guest services/lost and found when ours was stolen and unfortunately, it was never recovered.

I'm an AP holder and have been for many years. Strollers are stolen ALL the time. You may just not hear about it very much. There are some incidents where someone takes someone else's stroller (same model of course), but sadly, there are also incidents where people steal strollers just because. If you haven't had your stroller stolen, that's great! But it's good just to be aware that it does happen.

I am taking my BOB next trip, but I have every intention of locking it. I bought it to use it for comfort for myself and my son, so the option of bringing a cheaper stroller doesn't work for me. Every other stroller I've had used at Disney is a pain compared to the BOB. ;)

IMHO, a lock doesn't take that much effort, and it at least offers a little piece of mind if you intend on bringing the comfy expensive stroller. Just make sure you don't lock it to the fence, that's a big Disney no no. Just my 2 cents!

We are using Baby's Away (babysaway.com) they have a few different options of strollers (Bob, Jeep and Graco) we are going with a standard which is a Graco Metrolite, the cost of the rental for us from Sept 8 to the 13th is only $28. They charge another $30 for delivery. We are also renting a few other items from them as well and they delivery it all to our hotel room at the GCH before be arrive and pick everything up after we leave.

I also asked them what their policy is if the stroller is lost or stolen, they will charge the client half of the items value, which for the Metrolite is around $100 or less. My I'coo Pluto cost over 3 times that so I feel much better renting from them, plus it's one less thing to pack.

I had a coworker give me an extra graco stroller that they didn't want to deal with getting rid of. We take it all the time. The funny thing is that we like it better then our ubber expensive stroller. The graco has a large bin on the bottom. We take a back pack for all of our stuff and just grab the back pack when we go on a ride. We do occasionally leave jackets and food in it, but we have never had a problem.

My thinking is that there a lot of graco strollers and they are just not that valuable for someone to steal, especially when it is all scuffed up.
