We're staying in one this August for the first time for 12 nights, never even stayed at SSR but have always fancied a stay in one of the treehouse.

We will have a car and plan to drive to the parks rather than faff around with multiple buses as this seems to be the main complaint about them, we'll use the boat to get over to Springs and back.

Any tips, experiences etc. very welcome.

Thank you :)

IMO 12 nights at THV is a long time. They are remote with nothing going on, you need to get to the springs for all resort amenities. If during bug season, bring your repellent.

Remote with nothing going on sounds perfect! Every season is bug season for me, I'm eaten alive in Florida any time of the year.

The adults in our group love the THV specifically for the remoteness. The only tip is that although the policy is to restrict parking to one vehicle per unit, the policy isn't enforced and the spaces aren't marked. It can be difficult to find a space close to your unit when driving back from the parks a the end of the day. Using the internal bus system, or walking back to SSR to catch the parks bus there, can be time consuming. Take time to enjoy all of the pools. The food court at SSR is nice. Sometimes all of the MBs won't work on the room door initially, so if you have this problem just take the MBs that won't work to the front desk.

My family of four is staying in the THVs between Christmas and New Years. How many bathrooms are there in the Villas?

My kids are 18 and 22 and Im planning off days and nights at DTD. I look forward to reading the tips.

Definitely buy food and stock your fridge. The tree houses are remote, so having snacks and light meals on hand is especially helpful as the nearest food could be a 10 minute walk (Grandstand Pool). 25 minutes if you have a mopey hungry six year old in tow.

If you want to use the Disney buses I recommend skipping the internal SSR bus and just walking to and from the Grandstand stop, especially if you are in a unit close to the Grandstands.

We stayed in THV’s a couple of years ago and loved them. They are remote, but that is part of their charm.

The best advice that I can give is to request a unit toward the south end (we requested golf course view). This places you close to the pool, the boat dock, and more importantly closest to the Grandstand. If you have any issues getting a parking spot (we never had an issue) there are always spots open in the Grandstand area. This is just a short walk across the golf course path.

You really don’t want a unit too close to the boat docks though as they blow their whistle every time they arrive or leave. It’s pretty loud if you’re right there.

For the most part, we had the THV quiet pool to ourselves every time we went swimming. Definitely make some time to go swimming. Again, remote, quiet and alone. Rare things at Disney.

Finally, they have an odd bus system. There is a bus that continuously runs from the THV’s to the main SSR Carrriage house area. If you want to go to MK (makes sense by bus), you would need to first right the THV bus to the Springs area. Get off that bus and wait for a MK bus. This gets complicated by the fact that the Grandstand is the first bus stop for normal SSR and the Springs is the last. Many times if the bus fills up, they have to just drive by the Springs stop. The solution to this is easy though. Don’t ride the THV bus, but instead walk across the golf course to the Grandstand area and wait there for the normal SSR bus. As it’s the first stop you’ll have room and are almost guaranteed a seat. When you return take the SSR bus and get off at the Grandstand area and walk home. It is not very long but could save you a lot of time.

If I had a car, I’d drive to HS, EP and AK, but taking the bus to MK makes sense because they drop you at the gate and you can avoid the boat or monorail.

One final thing, don’t expect fullsize adults to be happy in the bunk beds. They are about 6-10 inches shorter than a normal bed.

Good luck. You should love the THV’s. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

I love them. The remoteness is great and it's the only small 3BR. It's a great layout that I wish they would build somewhere else.

We request "near the pool" but really it's near the walkway to grandstand. And we rent a car---only use the bus for MK. SSR is one of the resorts with about 20 bus stops, so it's worth it for MK, but otherwise driving saves you about 30 minutes.

We spent 2 nights there last year and it was perfect for that time but I would have torn out my hair if I stayed any longer. I just didn't like the design of the main room - seemed very cramped and dark. Darker than AKL villas. The bunk beds are great for kids but even my height challenged teens were uncomfortable in them. The stair can be a major pain when bringing in the luggage but otherwise not too bad. Careful of the parking. We came back around midnight one night and had to park several houses down the road. They really should have marked spots. We loved the boat to DS. so easy, though a bit long.
