DS-22 months is the pickiest eater I think I have ever seen. He hardly ever eats anything at all! For a while he was eating hotdogs all the time but he got tired of those. Then he started eating those Ramen noodles but won't touch those anymore. Seems like the only thing we can get him to eat right now is dry cereal. I'm concerned with it but not to the point I feel like I need to talk to the doctor. I've been saying that he'll eat when he's hungry enough but wanted advice or opinions about it. Maybe something we could do to make him want to eat a little more and try new/different things.
Thanks

just give him cereal and dont worry about it

I just offered my DD a variety of foods from a young age. Some things she used to love she refuses to eat now (grapes  ).

I would just keep offering new foods. Have you given him ketchup or BBQ to dip is hotdog in? DD loves to dip.She eats pretty much any sauce/condiment DH and I do. As far as meat DD loves steak and ham is her absolute favorite. :) Yogurt was also a favorite when she was that age. She got real messy, but that's how she learned. :)

I agreee not to worry about it too much. :)

Just keep offering. There are days my daughter eats only cereal for the whole day. Then there are days she eats everything I make for her. I agree with giving ketchup. She eats everything with ketchup. To me it is disgusting, but she loves it and if it gets her to eat then so be it.

Don't stress over it, he'll eat other stuff when he's ready.

I have no advice but I understand where you're coming from. DD is almost 3, has not had any milk for a year now, since she finally stopped her bottle. She eats oatmeal, toast, peanut butter, spaghetti, mac and cheese, soup (noodles only), pasta roni, pizza (now makes me take cheese off) and of course french fries. She will not try anything. I am picky, but I eat hamburger, chicken, some 'normal' things and she just won't even try them. I hope it'll get better. Good luck.

I was a very picky eater. Worried my mom to death. I was skin and bones, but I was healthy. Now, as an adult, I'm still thin and enjoy most foods.

What's funny is that DD8 is built just like I was...very very thin..and she eats a whole lot!

DON"T WORRY ABOUT IT if he is healthy!

I would just probably supplement with some PediaSure just to make sure your little one is getting enough vitamins and calcium.

Have you tried Cantalope? All little ones I know love that!

If he is healthy and thriving, I really would not worry too much about it. Maybe speak briefly with your doctor's office, and see about getting a vitamin? DS is now 7 and still pretty picky, but he is strong, healthy, and fully of a typical 7YO's energy. We have a prescription chewable vitamin for him, as much for the flouride as the vitamins. (Our town has well water, and we drink mostly bottled water, so he was not getting flouride).

I know it's easier said than done, but don't worry. They WILL eat when they are hungry, and they WON'T starve. I promise.

Good Luck

Debbie

When Remy was little she refused to eat her food unless I made it look like something fun. I guess some things are all in her head because it WAS the SAME thing, only a different shape?! We had to cut her sandwiches into flower shapes and made "snake dogs" out of her hotdogs by putting eyes and a mouth on it with ketchup and mustard. We also used the "dipping" idea. I made "birdsnests" out of spegetti too. Hopefully when Holly starts eating regular food she isn't like that.

One of my nieces was very picky. Not as picky as yours, but picky. When my sister talked to the doctor, he told her to not to worry, as long as she had at least one meal a day. And if all she wanted was the same thing, give it to her. It will change. Samantha is now almost 6, eats 3 good meals a day, and will try anything once.

My aunt once told me a funny story. My cousins only liked corn. So one night when she had peas, she told them that is was "green corn". And they ate it!

LOL! I love the "green corn" story. We started giving DS pediasure a few weeks ago so I do feel better that he at least loves that stuff and drinks a full cup of it once a day. Thanks for the ideas, I think I will try to make his food "fun" and see what happens. If it doesn't work then I know he'll start eating more when he's hungry enough. I pretty much let him eat what he wants during the day, just as long as he eats a little something. He's definintely healthy and full of energy. He has more energy than my first DS, who ate everything in sight. Thanks for taking time to post your ideas and suggestions.

LOL!!! I do that with pork! When we have porkchops or tenderloin, I tell Remy to eat her "chicken". If she hears the word pork, she refuses to eat it (I have no idea why).
