Any Timeshare Owners??

Thanks for all of the replies. We usually go twice a year, one small trip and one week long trip or longer. We do enjoy the free dining and will be going again during that time this year. My husband has been doing most of the DVC research and he sees the greatest benefit after our youngest is older than 3. However, alot of people say they regret not buying it earlier than they did.

Just remember that the prices are always going up. When we bought, the points were about $82 per point, now they are over $100 each. the longer you wait, the more expensive it MAY get. Plus all the contracts end on a specific date (depending on which home resort). So you could be paying more & have it for less time. (Although 2042 is a long way off still)

If you don't plan on using it until after your child is over 3, you could still rent the points out or trade them into Interval International for other places.

I'm not trying to convince you to buy DVC! You & your DH need to make that decision yourselves. I just wanted to point that out :goodvibes

Its funny, when you ask "any regrets" over on the DVC board the whole "only regret is I didn't buy sooner" comes up like a mantra. Then we had a thread over there a few months ago about buying sooner. And most people who responded felt they'd bought at the right time. They may have had opportunities sooner, but they had more expenses, or had a job loss after that.

In my own case, I first was exposed to DVC while they were building OKW on my honeymoon to my first husband. That sentance alone should clue you into why that wasn't a good time. After that I went through some tough financial times, got remarried, built a house (which meant more money), went through infertility treatments (expensive), adopted a child (expensive), had a surprise baby (expensive), had two kids in daycare - then saw our income increase so there was actually extra money. And we bought DVC.

People sometimes do "wish they knew about it sooner" and its always nice if you bought before the trip when you did. But if you know about it and are making a concious conservative decision not to buy right now, I think you are unlikely to regret it. Buy when you are ready. DVC can be an asset you will enjoy, or it can be a burden. Disney should never be a burden.
