Any thoughts on Southwest Airlines Visa deal?

We are taking a trip in the summer, and flying into Vegas. Right now, the cheapest tickets I can find are at $250 per person. I need to purchase 4. So, saw where I can open up a SWA Visa and they will give you pts. towards a flight.

Does anyone have experience with this? I am seriously considering this, although not sure I want a new Visa card. I can always cancel later, or cancel a different card. What's the catch with this one? and no, I'm not running up debt...will pay this off at the end of the month.

Any information is appreciated :)

No catch and actually I think it's a great deal. You will be billed the $59 annual fee on your first billing cycle, but a roundtrip flight for $59 to me is not bad at all.
I have this card for my business and have earned several free tickets.

I use this especially when I charge SW tickets. (we fly SW a lot)You get double points for that. I don't like paying the fee but esp the 1st year all the credits you get for signing up make it worth it. You also get credits on renewal but I have forgotten how many.

Thanks, this really helps. I couldn't figure out if this was some sort of scam/catch? My parents are flying with us, also, so I'm going to let them know about this.

Now, I just need to see if I can find any other deals/dings with SWA in the next couple of months:rolleyes:

Thanks!!!

My only comment would be to not assume Southwest is the cheapest. Every time I comparison shop from the Dallas area, American Airlines comes out around $50 cheaper and I get to go on a flight that does not stop (shaving over an hour off the travel time=more time in the parks) plus I get to fly out of a MUCH nicer airport (DFW vs. DAL...Love Field is not in the nicest part of town).

You will need to account for fees to check a bag (never an issue for me) but if the price is similar I would take a major airline over Southwest any day for the simple fact that you can be protected on other carriers if there are schedule disruptions. This happened to me on Christmas Eve when it snowed in Dallas (go figure). Had I been on Southwest, I would have not had any other options except whenever they could rebook me. Just one of those incidents is enough for me.

We love flying Southwest! The RR mounts up much faster that other airlines. One of the best perks is you can make your resies now and if a better deal or a change in plans you can re-book with no extra fees. They don't refund your $$ but put it in an account for a later booking. We love this! I sometimes rebook several times when the fare gets cheaper!
It also seems to us that SW is one of the few airlines that still is service oriented and glad to have you as a customer.
