Has anyone sayed at the Galleria Palms Orlando resort recently? I believe it used to be a Hampton Inn. I've seen rates for $50 a night directly from the resort. The photos make it look not too bad for a night's stay.

Would love to know if anyone has stayed there and what your experience was like.

Thanks! :)

Haven't stayed there but we have relatives in the area who have checked it out for future reference and they said it was very nice. All the rooms have been updated and breakfast is included. It is back off of the highway so it is relatively quiet and easy access to and from.

Thanks, Disney Grandma! :)

The photos make it look pretty nice -- and who doesn't love a Plasma TV?

I thought for $50 a night, we could tolerate just about any place. Well, almost any place. Do NOT and I mean DO NOT, ever stay at the Econolodge near the airport. I couldn't tolerate that place for 3 hours. Yuck!!!!! :scared1:

We have three families and our flight doesn't arrive until 8:30, and once we get a rental car, luggage, etc., I didn't feel it was worth it to stay on Property. And the discounts for October are pretty dismal even for Value resorts.

Anyhow, thanks again!

My DH and I are going the same time you are and we decided to drive down. We booked a couple of nights prior to our Disney trip and a couple nights after at Galleria Palms. It used to be The Meridian. I agree the pictures look nice. From what I've read elsewhere online the $50 rate isn't the usual going rate. I'm guessing it's their special rate for the slow season.

We were able to get $79 a night rate over Thanksgiving weekend, but then a $129 a night became available at the Dolphin so we switched over for the 2 nights. If we hadn't gotten such a good rate at the Dolphin we would have kept our reservation at Galleria Palms. We're paying more but looking forward to staying in the Epcot area and not even driving our car since that weekend will surely be extremely busy traffic wise as well as people wise.

What a great rate for the Dolphin!

You probably already know this, but they do charge you for parking at the Dolphin (and Swan) at their resort. I realize you said you wouldnt' be driving your car during that weekend, but just wanted to mention that I had read that they do charge all their guests a daily parking rate.

We're staying at the Boardwalk after our one night at the Galleria and are looking forward to that as we haven't stayed at that resort. Have stayed at the Beach Club before, but that was a very long time ago. :)

Hope you have a very magical Thanksgiving trip! princess:

I was happy with the $50 rate for our group. Every on-line travel site was showing it at $60. So I guess it always "pays" to see what the resort is offering themselves before booking through Expedia or Hotels.com, etc. :) Plus booking through the resort lessens the loss of any monies. At least booking through the resort itself, we can cancel without incurring a penalty. If we have to cancel through Expedia, etc., then the penalty is usually one night's stay -- which is more than what we'll be paying at check-in.

Thanks, yes I do know they charge for parking and also a resort fee but we thought it would probably be the only time we would have a chance to stay in that area and that we may not get it for $129 again. I second guessed myself for many days but decided to go with the Dolphin. We could also have gotten Gaylord Palms for less than the Dolphin but DH didn't want to drive at all over that weekend and I think the Dolphin buses will be better than Gaylord and also we are on the Boardwalk! DH likes to get up early and walk so this will be a good location and our grandchildren will no doubt love riding the boats.

We stayed here over Mother's day week-end and we LOVED it! In fact, we are planning to stay there again right before Christmas. The pictures you see on-line are exactly like the room, I mean exactly. The continental breakfast is a typical cereal and patries but it was perfect for us. The pool is just nothing fancy, just a little square pool, but when it is hot outside, water is water! You are literally 2 minutes from Disney property, if you take a back road you go in right at Animal Kingdom Lodge. This hotel is just as close as the All-Stars, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Coronado Springs. If you are planning on spending a lot of time in the parks and are not worried about themed pools, this place is perfect! Have a great trip! :wizard:

Hi Steph~ Do you remember how the breakfast was? By the way, I'm your neighbor down in Trinity! :hippie: ~Karen

We just got back from a trip to Orlando and stayed there for 3 days. We were THOROUGHLY impressed. The rooms were nice, and the whole hotel was neat as a pin. They upgraded the breakfast because when we were there, they had eggs, bacon, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, Seattle's Best Coffee, and the pastries... oh my! The pastries were struesels and cakes that were frosted... mmmm...

We found the $50 a night online and I am so glad we stayed there. It was REALLY nice, and the CLEANEST hotel I have ever been to. Their daily housekeeping is bar none the best I've ever seen...

Wow! All these great reviews and now I'm wishing we had booked more nights. :) Thanks so much for all the positive feedback. Booking a hotel without any idea how it's going to be when you actually arrive can be a little stressful. :)

Thanks so much!

Thanks for posting this. It looks great and at $50 a night I can see why people stay off site. This just may make it possible to return sooner then expected.

I have stayed on-site, off-site, in timeshares, etc and this is by far the best bang for your buck in the Disney area. It is friendly, clean, and so close to Disney property you can literally throw a stick at it. I forgot to mention before that when we looked out our window we could see Mt Everest and the Tree of Life.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love to stay on-site, there is just something about it. But with the way prices are right now I can stay three nights at Galleria Palms for the same price as 1 night at the values - plus there are 2 queen beds, a small fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot at Galleria Palms and there are none of those things at the values. PLUS when you add in the free breakfast (which was just cereal, fruit and pastries last time I was there, sounds like they have upgraded it since then from the post above) you just can't beat it.

Hey Neighbor!

Don't you love living so close to Disney? It's just far enought that you feel like you are going somewhere but close enough that you are not exauhsted when you get there.

The breakfast was just cereal, fresh fruit, pastries, muffins, juice and coffee when we were there in May. It sound like, from an above post, that maybe they have upgraded to hot food. If that is the case, you really can not beat the value. What really impressed us were the upgrade touches like, granite counter tops, beautiful bathroom, Bath and Bodyworks toilitries, modern decor, etc. I will even go out on a limb and say the rooms are nicer than the moderates at Disney (just minus the theming and great pools).

Also, as an FYI, we got the King Exec Suite for our family for 4. The couch pulls out into a bed, and it was nice to be able to fold it up and put it away, having a couch if we had downtime. We had to creatively rearrange where the table and chairs went when we pulled the bed out cause it is a tight fit, but the 5 mins it takes to rearrange, FOR US, is worth it completely... We'll definitely book there again when we go back. I really liked it as much a the Homewood Suites on I-Drive and they were great. I was glad I did my homework ahead of time and picked good hotels... I just submitted the following review for Galleria Palms on Tripadvisor and am waiting for the approval, but thought I'd share... and not noted in the review but the location was THE BEST. I mean seriously as close as you can get... We did the afternoon break while staying there and it was SO FAT getting back... Here is the review...

Title: Great hotel! Really impressed!!

ID#: 19602898

We were vacationing in the Orlando area during the Hurricane Fay and had originally planned to go to Palm Coast. We changed plans due to the storm and decided to extend our stay in Orlando for 3 days. I saw reviews on Galleria Palms, and decided to give the hotel a shot. We drove up to the location, who had recently changed from Meridian Palms, to a sign that had a name change covering the "Meridian" with "Galleria." My husband looked at me, and rolled his eyes, telling me we'd found a real dive, and that so far he was not impressed. I was worried that my record of booking good hotels was ruined!

I went into the hotel and checked in, and we warmly greeted by the front desk. She confirmed my information, and I was given our keys. We went to the room. and it was just as pictured. The whole hotel was extremely well lit, bright, and recently renovated. The double sinks in the bathroom were an extra bonus, and the Bath and Body Works toiletries were a nice touch.

Breakfast in the morning was not your 'typical continental breakfast.' It featured Seattle's Best Coffees, Teas, assorted juices, milk, cereals, eggs, meats, fresh pastries, fresh fruits, breads, etc. The pastries were not typical hotel donuts, but fresh cakes and struesels. It was truly a well-maintained breakfast area that would satisfy picky eaters, and one that satisfied a 'foodie' such as myself.

The housekeeping staff was truly the best, however. Our room was impeccably cleaned every day, better than I have ever seen by a housekeeping staff. They were observed pulling out fixtures and vacuuming under and around them, even when just refreshing rooms for guests staying there for longer terms.

After we checked out, I noticed I'd forgotten my lap-top in the room. I was mortified, and contacted them that evening. I was told that housekeeping had gone home for the evening, but they took my name and phone number advising they'd find out the status of it in the morning, and also said I could call back in the morning. I called back in the morning first thing, and I was advised my lap-top was in the general manager's office. Since we were in Clearwater, we chose to drive there and pick it up. Crisis averted! I was delighted with their care of my valuable possessions and their great attitude.

All in all, my experience with the hotel was fantastic. I'd highly recommend them for a great stay and great value.

We stayed there in March. Everything was as seen on their website. Breakfast included pastries, eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, Seattle's Best coffee w/ flavored creamer. The room had bed and body works toiletries. We are staying there again for one night in October and again in December before we switch to our resort. The only problem we had was when we booked for October, the girl taking ressies booked us for April(the month that we booked in) instead of October and they charged us a no show fee that we had a hardtime getting refunded.

These are definitely some great reviews! I'm still feeling pretty good about my choice for one night! :)

Thanks again!

Oh I'm crying.

I took a chance today and tried Priceline. My first time ever.

Never. again.:guilty:

I got Clarion Maingate.

They don't even have free breakfast.

My choice was between Galleria, Inn @ Oak Plantation, and a chance at Priceline and just as I was about to STOP the transaction, my bid was accepted and I was so very dismally informed of my accommodations. :sad2:

Next time, I'm choosing Galleria. Even if I can afford onsite, just to teach myself a lesson. :sad1:
