We travel to the world usually once a year. We have yet to visit during the Christmas season. Would like some suggestions from those that have visited during this time. What are the must dos at the parks or resorts? Would it make more sense to stay value because I would think we wouldn't be at the hotel with so many new things to see. How about time of year? When is the best time that is not too crowded? Any others tales or advice would be great!! We are going in May & may now be considering a early winter trip to see the Christmas sights.

If possible stay in a deluxe or moderate that really decorates for the holidays.:thumbsup2 No matter what anyone says to me the theming is half the trip for me.:cool1: PLenty of the resorts decorate some, but I would personally search out one that really decorates, even if not planning on spending a whole lot of time at the resort. Now my biased opinion would be for you to stay at the WL at the Christmas season. To us nothing even compares. You just have to experience it to know what I am talking about!:thumbsup2 Anyway go for moderate or Deluxe and do your homework choosing. Here's wishing you the very best trip!:cool1:

A WDW TRIP AT CHRISTMAS IS WORTH EVERY DIME!!

Best time to go: Early to mid-December

Best place to stay during Christmas season: Wilderness Lodge.

Must See's during the Christmas season at WDW:
Osbourne Spectacle of Lights--at MGM
Decorations at GF--life-sized gingerbread house in the lobby, amazing Christmas tree
Lobby of WL (if you're not already staying there)
Candlelight Processional--at EPCOT
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) --at MK

Hello,

Visting WDW at Christmas time is one the best times to visit (IMO)...

Here are some must do's-

Magic Kingdom- if you have the time and money try to go to one of the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parties...they have special fireworks, shows, cookies and coco, hardly any lines for the rides and attractions, and alot of the characters are out.

Epcot- There is a special ceremony where they light the christmas and the there's a spectular light show display, Candlelight Procsessional with a celebrity narrator is also great (my favorite christmas show).

Studios- The Osbourne Lights (very impressive).

Animal Kingdom- not too much except decorations.

The resorts are very pretty to look at, (try to eat at wilderness lodge-you can eat and look at the decorations around the resort)!!!

Have a blast!!

My DW and I are experiencing our 1st trip to WDW during Dec and we are so excited about it. All we hear are how beautiful the decorations are and how light the crowds are. We are going to MVMCP twice and will be visiting the GF to see the Gingerbread house and the decoration. We are so excited! :goodvibes

Also, see the Country Bears Jamboree. At Christmas, they change they put on a special show.

I've also been interested in planning a Christmas trip, but want to wait until my kiddies are a bit older. But, I don't know how long I can wait!:lmao:

What about going ON Christmas. What resort would be the best for that?

I'm thinking a monorail or one of the Epcot resorts so you don't rely on the buses... anyone with experience on that?:confused3

Just when you think there couldn't be any more magic at WDW, you go at Christmas!

Sorry Phoebus II, while Country Bear Christmas is much better than the regular show, and so fun to see, they aren't doing it this year. (Disney didn't do it last year either) It's really too bad because it adds to the Holiday experience, IMHO. :sad2:

I'd say to go before the 20th so it isn't too busy. If you stay value watch out for the cheer leaders (pop warner). We have stayed both on and off site and like both.

We also enjoy DTD as they have special events on there such as local choirs but I'm not sure how you find out what's happening when:confused3

Apart from WDW drive around Celebration to look at the houses there, and enjoy the nightly 'snow'.:santa:

December is a fantastic time to visit WDW! It's our absolute favorite time of year to go. It's ideal to go the first couple of weeks in December when it's value season, and the resort rates are cheaper.

I would stay at one of the resorts that really decorates amazingly for Christmas. Some of the best in my opinion are the Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. I haven't seen it first hand, but I'm betting that POR and POFQ probably really decorate nicely for the holidays as well.

As far as activities to see, we love Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the Osborne Lights, and the Lights of Winter at Epcot. All of Walt Disney World really puts on the holiday finest!
