any Stephen King fans out there?

My DH is a HUGE Stephen King fan. He also has a large collection of limited editions. Some of the cases these books came in are amazing. One of them is a red satin lined box. He has several signed copies, I think his prized possession is where he signed by "The Body" He even saw Stephen King perform when he toured with some band, I can't remember the name...something Remainders maybe:confused: He has made many trips up to Maine and has gone to many of bookstores to add to his collection....that I am told someday will pay for more DVC points:D Guess I'll let him keep em;)

How cool, Lisa!

Another huge King fan here. LOVED The Stand (the movie is where Gary Sinise became my fave actor), Green Mile, IT (still hate those big open drains....shudder). Can't think of any books that I don't like, disappointed in the endings of some, but they were surprises! Can't wait for the next instalment of the Dark Tower.

reading Stephen King.

I was a camp counsellor during a Winter Session, when one of my charges found this book called "Salem's Lot" They told me it was a "Dirty Book", so of course I took it away from them. Well that evening after the kids had gone to sleep I picked up the book and started reading it! I have not been able to put a Stephen King book down until I finish reading it!

I really LOVE his stuff!

So sorry he thinks he is ready to retire!

DD and I just watched "The Shining" the other weekend.

Maybe my love for Stephen King will run in the family!LOL

ME ME ME ME! Huge Stephen King fan here- have been for a long long long time. LOL I have all his books in paperback AND hardcover... because I started out in paperback in my young and poor days and then graduated up to hardcover. LOL I have to have them in hardcover because I know they'll last longer than the paperbacks- some of which are looking pretty sad. But that's because they are READ, not just sat on a shelf for looks- and his books are the ONLY ones (not all- but a few of the really long ones) that I have ever been able to read more than once. I can't stand to read any other writer's books again- too easy to remember everything that happened I guess. But SK's long ones I can wait a few years and read again without remembering every single thing.

I can't really say what are my favorites- that would be way too difficult since I really like them all. There are a few that I didn't like as much as the many others I did though (last on the list would be the Dark Towers series- they were "alright"- just not my favorites of his. 'Course I still like them more than other author's books. Just call me faithful reader LOL)

I dread the day he stops writing completely and he hasn't been writing fast enough for me for many years now- so I see that day coming. I will mourn the day I read his last book ever. :(

The Stand is by far my favorite Stephen King book. I love all of the characters. My high school where I teach English had a big scandal last year because some of the English teachers were teaching Fire Starter. One of the parents was very upset and threatened to bring his religious group to school board meetings with him and really create a problem for us. The kids all loved the book and for many of them it was the only book they read all year. The complete irony is that this man's son chose Fire Starter as the book that he wrote about for his Regents Exam!;)

I love Stephen King! My favorite books are Salem's Lot, The Shining, The Stand and Desperation. I also love a lot of his novellas and short stories with The Mist being a particular favorite.

The movies are a mixed thing for me. The Green Mile was good and so was both versions of The Shining in their own ways. I liked The Langoliers and Rose Red too. The Mist is supposedly in development and I can't wait for it!

As for retiring, he comments on the rumors in an interview with amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/feature/-/455676/ref=mk_0503_king_interveiw/102-9160865-0101724 ):

Was that yes or no? ;)

I'd call it a no! Or at least and unqualified maybe!!!
