hi

just wondering if the "important" people ever cruise on DCL? i did see Norm from Cheers at WDW last year

inquiring minds want to know

We had Trey Wingo from ESPN on our cruise. That was the only person we heard about that was anywhere near a "star" on our cruise...

A previous thread about celebs had some big stars on them....

The ones I can remember from the last thread about this... Witney Houston and Bobby Brown have cruised DCL as well as Nick and Aaron Carter (back street boys fame).

Paige Davis from Trading Spaces was on recently.

We sailed with a player from the Atlanta Basketbasll team (you can see how much I pay attention to basketball..don't even know the team name let alone the players!)...but all the guys were impressed he was there!!

I believe George Bush (the dad, not George W.) sailed or was it Jimmy Carter or both....I am confused!!!

On the DVC Member Cruise in Feb. 2003 we had Andrea McArdle (the original Annie and one of the Belle's from Broadway) and her family. Her husband writes music for Monday Night Football and a lot of other ABC specials.

On the same cruise was Scotty Bowman who used to be coach in the NHL. He was a big hit with a lot of people and spent a lot of time up in the ESPN club.

I'm a Red Wings fan, so would have really enjoyed meeting/seeing Scotty Bowman.

The Bush family, including former President Bush, Gov Jeb Bush and the current President's daughters (Jenna and Barbara) sailed the Wonder almost two years ago. Can you imagine the security?

Of course, the According to Jim cast sailed last year to film two episodes.

My DH spotted an announcer from the Golf Channel last year. It made his day (although I'm not sure anyone else was very thrilled!)

On one of our cruises the baseball player Roger Clemmens was aboard. He signed autographs one day. I saw him walking on the deck but didn't really know who he was until later.

On another cruise some basketball player was there but I don't know his name. Is there a basketball player married to a Vanessa ????, an actress I think???? I don't think she was onboard. Our dinner tablemate claimed that he was out on deck at 2 am and stood beside this basketball player to watch the waves for a bit.

I am not at all a sports fan so neither one of these "celebrity" sightings really did much for me!!;)

I only guessed him since he was married (now divorcing) singer/actress Vanessa Williams. He played for the Celtics, then Lakers.

We were on the cruise w/ Rick Fox. He was behind me when we were getting back on the ship at CC.

Yes I thought that her name was Vanessa Williams but I didn't want to say it and be wrong ;)

I saw him and his family being escorted on Castaway Cay but since I am not a sports fan I didn't recognize him.

I saw THE man on my last cruise... Mickey. :)

Everyone else is a b-list celebrity compared to my pal Mickey.

On the August 7-14, 2004 cruise, Mike Eruzione and his family was on board. They were playing the movie Miracle one day on board, and afterwards he got up and answered questions. It was really intresting to hear what he had to say.

We just returned from the Oct 16 Eastern cruise. My son-in-law recognized Luis Gonzales from the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. He got up the nerve to ask him if he was himself and Luis kindly said yes and shook hands with him. Made his day!!! My son-in-laws day not Luis's!!!

We were on last year when Paige Davis was there plugging her book. There was also an actor who plays Scar in the Broadway Production of Lion King. I found out later that they are married.

I believe the senior Bush took a large group of family members on a holiday cruise a year or two ago--Thanksgiving, maybe.

As far as Pres. Carter, he's a huge Disney fan so I wouldn't be surprised to hear he's been onboard either.

hmmmmm....rick foxx would have definetely made my day, week....:hyper:

Andiw MacDowell and her two daughters were on our New Year's Eve sailing last year.

We were on the NYE cruise too, but didn't see Andie MacDowell, but did hear AFTER we got home she was on board.
We used to cruise NCL (before kids) and they used to have stars on board as performers. They hung out the rest of the week on the ship. Hung with the Fifth Dimension, Norm Crosby, Jack Jones and his dad, Shields and Yarnell, plus they always had sports stars on board, Moses Malone was on board (played a game of basketball against him) and some ex-NFL star whose last name was Nixon.

We got to meet Don "Ducky Williams, the entire art department for advertising and marketing (but not merchandising) at WDW.
He designed the lithograph that was given to all of the guests on the Antigua and San Juan cruises (and signed them). :earsboy:

This thread brought to mind something that I have wondered about for a long time - are any of the DIS members 'famous' people incognito under their s/n? After all, 'stars' love Disney & DCL, too! :Pinkbounc ::yes:: :bounce:

as we were getting off our Jan 10 Eastern Magic cruise (on January 17), the cast of According to Jim were getting on to film a two part episode aboard the ship. Lourdes and the rest of the CMs were excited to have them aboard. They filmed scenes in Key West and CC as well. it looked like fun.
